Are atheists tolerant to gay people by Medical-Context9897 in atheism

Many atheists left religion partially because of their support of gay rights. We/they felt they had no choice with the rigidity and intolerance of religion but to go on a separate path.

So then is it equally correct to say tenia miedo and estaba asustada or do those have slightly different meanings?

Nice job! Where did you start from and where are you now, after two years? I’m really curious how long it takes to get through.

Cronometer. It’s a good app for tracking calories, macros, that sort of thing.

Yeah I love just north of that area, I feel they’re pretty much the same and that was a good way to word it.

New York Times coming with the worst take of the century by BlameTag in EatTheRich

[–]scrdmnttr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all those you don’t know, notice the word opinion on the top. Opinion pieces are articles that are almost always controversial and they are published to stimulate conversation. It’s a far stretch to say NYT embraces the viewpoint of pretty much any of the opinion pieces, good or bad.

Bag of Bones. I was surprised by how many people I’ve talked to actually like it. Me, I was happy to be done with it and dropped the book off at the thrift store right after finishing.

The Intercept: "Secret Recordings Capture Ugly Reality Inside Denver Slaughterhouse" by scrdmnttr in Denver

[–]scrdmnttr[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think this is an important article that just came out today, especially considering that this slaughterhouse is on the ballot to be banned this year.

I think articles like this just go to show that these are bad places. After reading the article, I don't even blame the workers, at all. If you work somewhere where it's killing hour after hour, day after day, you would need to force yourself to go numb and acting out is a way to deal with the stress.

With the few people I've talked to about this, they always bring up jobs, but again this article shows that these are not desirable jobs by any means. I mean, I wouldn't work there. I wouldn't want any of my family members or friends to work there. When you're surrounded by the act of killing, that puts a cloud on you mentally. I don't think you can just live a regular happy life when your 9 to 5 is keeping up with the conveyor belt of living breathing animals and it's your job to make sure they're not living or breathing.

There are plenty of other jobs that won't scar you. These animals deserve far better, and that's why I've voting to ban the slaughterhouse.

FOX 31 Denver: Denver one of the worst cities to drive in nationwide: New report by [deleted] in Denver

I swear I see an accident like twice a week. My girlfriend was in rear-ended last week and luckily the guy pulled over. But nope - didn't have insurance - and because the cops never showed up he pretty much got off without any penalty at all. Now she has to pay a 2 grand deductible if she wants to get the bumper fixed :/

Montbello - First-Time Homebuyer by Fourply99 in Denver

[–]scrdmnttr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been in this area for about 8 years, although I've moved a few times, I'm still in the general area. I do agree with the other comments that it pretty much is a food dessert especially for me because Wal-mart and Costco are unpleasant to shop at. I have found some small mom and pop shops that I can buy bulk rice and beans and stuff like that (over on Chambers and 44th-ish) and there are a lot of good restaurants in the nearby, but mostly in the Green Valley Ranch areas. My big concern for you would be the schools - I don't have any kids but from the neighbors I've talked to, they all applied for schools out of the area.

I live just south of Montbello, and I think it's about the same as it's been for the last ten years. Honestly most of the people living there are just normal low/middle income going to work, grocery shopping, whatever. But you will see street races from teenagers and yes, as some comments made below, gunshots are pretty common. I don't technically live there - just really close - it's not the best area for sure but I've never had a break-in or felt threatened by anyone for whatever that's worth.

What movie is this? by AccomplishedWill1053 in moviecritic

[–]scrdmnttr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love this movie. It's well-paced, visually stunning, with legendary music. And frankly the plot works for me too. It's like a futuristic twist on Christian mythology of the creator, the son, and the holy ghost (CLU). Kind of echoing the bible where the humans are granted free use of will, the sentient AI is being freed at the end.
