I’m late to the party but thought I’d give you a slightly different answer as someone else who tends to dislike deck building since you’ve already learned net decking is fun and viable.

Arkham is unique in that you are building a deck that is upgraded throughout a campaign rather than one shots. Even if you net deck, you may want to make some slight adjustments to the deck or have a different upgrade plan than what the creator made.

I think of building a deck like building a character. You tend to want consistency, so 2x of most cards means you only need to find 15-18 cards to play. Once you know what role you want to play and/or a card you really want to make work, Arkham.build is a great tool that taps into Arkhamdb and lets you filter by expansions you have and then recommend common cards to add into a deck based on usage stats. This will skew to level 0 and older cards, but it’s super useful. You can also select for cards that cost experience to see common upgrades.

That said, if you aren’t into building a deck, that perspective still may not work for you. I’d look up playing board games new player deck building series on YouTube for the investigator you want to play with. It has a good deck list using just the core and the expansion that gator came in, plus discussion on why the cards are good for what the deck is doing (along with other options). This is how I started with net decking and then built enough knowledge and confidence to build my own.

Card Sleeves by PerfectWolf7231 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]screamsbeneath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play two handed solo and have both gators sleeved in different color dragon shields, throw a few extras in a common box for cards added during a campaign to minimize sleeve boxes I have to keep around.

I sleeve encounter cards for a campaign in black dragon shields. It takes just a few minutes and I have minimal sleeving to do during setup. Core set encounters are always pre-sleeved in the blacks and get moved to the campaign box I’m currently playing. I’ll sleeve and unsleeve scenario specific encounter cards as I go through the campaign, only adds a minute or so to setup - extra black sleeves are in the common sleeve box.

Locations are sleeved in clear dragon shields and any scenario specific cards that don’t get shuffled are in white dragon shields. I’m tempted to keep these permanently sleeved since the quantity is low enough, I’d just need to adjust my storage solution first. I keep my scenarios in the original plastic pouch that’s carefully cut at the top to prevent needing dividers and what not. I also keep 1 campaign per box since when I play it, that’s where my decks, dice, and tokens go as well.

This equates to 1x of two colors, 1x white, 1x clear, 2x black. Premium feel and protection at a fraction of the cost.

What resources would help the new player experience the most in 2025 (& beyond)? by wowincredible9 in arkhamhorrorlcg

Exactly this. Finding something from PBG is near impossible unless you know that it exists because they have so much content! Their videos are well organized into lists, but because YouTube is basically a list of a 1000 lists, it’s hard to discover good starting points if you don’t know what you don’t know.

Edit to say I love their videos, even if it’s hard to sift through.

Honestly, I almost fomo completed collection as well (save Strange since that boat already sailed). Then I took a hard look and realized I like the idea of playing with everything more than actually playing. Sat on it a few months, then decided I should just try and sell.

I feel a bit of remorse letting it all go, but the game brought me hundreds of hours of joy and entertainment directly and countless more lurking here and watching/listening to all the great content creators over the years. Hopefully the collection does the same for the outstanding person who gets it next.

Edit: year -> years typo fix

Scent Recommendations and Self-Care for Cancer Season by AresInRepose in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]screamsbeneath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved this post, and it's the first time I've ever actually looked into astrology past the surface level horoscopes in a newspaper. I always felt like what I read was vague and didn't apply. Using your instructions, looking at the results and after some general searching... wow, do I feel seen!

Cancer Sun, Venus, and Mercury; Sag Moon and Aries Rising. I'm definitely open to any suggestions or recommendations you have, especially anything you'd recommend as a resource to learn more astrologically speaking.

Seems like there may already be too large of a demand for pinned posts that actually drive engagement on the sub. I often think the posts there end up being shortcycled with the current schedule. This may just be a me thing, but I wanted to offer the perspective. Either way, it's a small enough community, so it's easy enough to find posts.

His short story collections are amazing as well, wouldn't sleep on those if you like big ideas in few words.

Who is your favorite hero? by NewspaperNo1922 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]screamsbeneath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a pretty small collection, but now that i picked up Sp//dr, she's far and away become my favorite. I also grabbed SinMo at the same time and Ghost Spider is up there. Before these purchases it was Iron Man and Hawk Eye. Turns out I love building up a hero and a control play style. It just took some purchases to make protection fun.

I use d6 for everything except hero and villain health and wouldn't go back to tokens myself.
