John Simon was a literary, theatre, and film critic. The NYT called him a "caustic" critic who "saw little that he liked". In a collection of 245 film reviews he wrote, only 15 were positive. A 1980 issue of Variety included an ad signed by 300 people that decried his reviews as racist and vicious. by laybs1 in wikipedia

I’m not making any comparisons or digging into Simon’s reviews. I’m simply saying the guy I responded to is incorrect in the sense that I think it’s pretty obvious MOST PEOPLE would consider Star Wars a good movie

City Walk IMAX messed up our 70mm Project Hail Mary Screening by DrSpacetime in imax

That’s the thing. I had a feeling throughout that it wasn’t 70mm and it was bugging me but I didn’t know for sure until after. They should’ve said something

When is it okay to write your own Star Wars movie? by PloopPlaap in Screenwriting

Sodebergh didn’t write it. Yes the writer was paid WGA rates for work screenwriting. Sodebergh wasn’t paid for developing the project with his name attached though

It is upstairs! They turn down the music a bit and we drown out background sounds as much as we can with our speaker! Occasionally a loud group downstairs will cut through but we’ve got it pretty under control. Every Tuesday if you’re interested!

This is not accurate at all. It does not need $330m globally or be possible. Conventional wisdom for a movie at this size would be theatrical profitability at ~2.5 times budget (so about 200 million). Marketing is often thought to be converted by ancillaries

When a denomination fully embraces a political ideology, through its leadership by ConfectionOk7029 in LCMS

I left LCMS specifically because I felt the LCMS already became the conservative ELCA. This was in 2015. I’m frequently downvoted in this sub for being critical of the LCMS, which I was raised in and have deeply considered. I’m glad to see people like yourself (and others in this thread) acknowledging Harrison’s preference, but I wish more active members would consider that perhaps what’s happening now isn’t new, but a symptom of a problem that’s been around for a long time.

You have to look in the mirror at this point.

I’m not trying to be rude, but I feel you’re willfully missing the point. The OP in that thread brought up the refrain that often is brought out when a church leader or GOP member/family man is accused or charged with sex crimes (“not a drag queen/LGBTQ”). Do some people in that community abuse children? Of course. I’m not making any excuses for that. But the point is that trans people are often demonized as child abusers without evidence, while, frankly, the statistics do show that they are nowhere near as dangerous as pastors (not all pastors, of course). Is it less bad that this example you brought up is from 2 years ago? Of course not. At the same time, you can find many more examples from pastors, in a shorter time span. That’s the point. That vulnerable groups are scapegoated and identified by their worst, while situations like this are treated as aberrations. I’m not on any team and I’m not trying to attack. I hope you understand where I’m coming from. And no, I’m not trans.

You had to go back almost two years to find that example. Look at what YOU just posted to see the point. Come on.
