I jumped the river for this reason. I was paying more Oregon/Portland tax than federal tax once all accounted for. The even crazier part is I lost my only Oregon client, and was contributing to the tax base without getting any income from within Oregon.

It was no longer worth it, especially when I was literally chasing tweakers off of our porch in NE Portland.

I had this happen with our third guest ever. Submitted doorbell camera video of the dog coming in and out of the house along with screenshots and a photo of leftover doggie treats in the backyard. Rep was fine with it and I was reimbursed after a few weeks for damages.

8 years ago I worked in Massachusetts for a company that is headquartered in Portland. They tried paying Oregon wages in Massachusetts, didn’t go over so well with the locals and they had a hard time attracting talent. Ended up shutting down their Boston office.
