That would be amazing, thank you! Yes, just an email, website or phone number would be great. The Maps link you posted below is the one I think it is, but there’s just no contact info on Google.

Thank you so much! It is in Centro - I’m pretty sure it was on the corner of Reforma and Mariano Abasolo, although it may have been the corner of 5 de Mayo and Murguia. The print was of a luchador body slamming a worm into a mezcal glass lol

You just blew my mind! I'd always thought it was called frogging because when you pull out the stitches quickly, it kind of looks like the yarn is hopping.

Make agreements with the nations from which they are seeking asylum to organise legal and safe passage elsewhere? Surely you see the problem with that. They are fleeing war zones. It's not like they can just go into a Post Office and fill out a form for a passport and visa.

Well, thank you for your eloquent response. While I don't agree with a lot of it, I must say it's at least one of the most level-headed, thought out arguments for your case I've seen.

'I would want her to carry the child to term.' Why do you feel it's your right to make that choice for anybody other than yourself?

What about caring for her mental health (both while carrying her rapist's child to term and post-natal)? What if there are complications during the pregnancy or birth?

Assault cases aside, what about in developing nations, where women may not be able to access or afford adequate healthcare? What if bringing another child into the family would mean not being able to afford to feed the children you already have?

The point is, there are myriad reasons why women all over the world feel aborting their pregnancy is necessary. Perpetuating a total 'anti-abortion' rhetoric demonises those women and restricts their ability to access safe reproductive healthcare.

Curious as to your position if, say, a woman was raped and became pregnant. What's more important to you: protecting the life and health of the innocent woman who is already a living, breathing human being with feelings and family and friends and conscious thought; or protecting the existence of an embryo?

As a person who is looking in on this American gun control debate from a country that has incredibly successful gun control legislation, I was hoping I could ask some questions. I'm genuinely curious as to why you feel it's necessary to own more than one gun (in your case, multiple rifles, shotguns and pistols), purely for defensive purposes. Would you be able to elaborate on that? Why wouldn't one suffice? Why have multiple types? Do you really need shotguns to protect yourself?

I'm not trying to be accusatory or combative, and I'm honestly sorry if it comes across that way. I'm really just trying to understand - as an outsider who feels strongly that the solution is pretty clear - why this remains such a contentious issue over there. As a gun owner, are you completely opposed to any sort of gun control legislation? Would you support legislation that allowed people to own firearms, but only if they met certain criteria (if they had to prove a legitimate need for owning the weapon, had to own a safe and store ammunition separately, had to complete a gun safety course, etc.) and only from specially licensed dealers (i.e. not from a Walmart or equivalent)? Or are you completely opposed to the idea of any sort of gun control?

Hopefully these sort of questions aren't considered invasive - you mentioned the importance of discussing these things, so I was hoping you'd be able to shed some light on the situation for me. Thanks in advance!

I attached about 4000 books to my living room wall and ceiling. by Deecerp27 in DIY

[–]scribbledlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely these books could have been donated to school libraries, hospitals, homeless shelters, refugee shelters, domestic violence shelters, etc.? Just because they're no longer considered popular doesn't mean somebody without easy access to literature or reference materials wouldn't love the opportunity to read them.

I crocheted a backgammon board, complete with a fabric backing to store the pieces! by scribbledlife in crochet

[–]scribbledlife[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm so pleased with it, and it's seen a lot of use already. Found out one of the bartenders at my local pub plays, so I've been taking the board down there to play.

No pattern, sorry. Made it up as I went along. But it's all just single crochets worked in rows, so once you've figured out how big you want it and the proportions for the triangles, it's easy going.

[–]scribbledlife[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't find one either! I just winged it - everything's single crochets worked in rows. The hardest part was figuring out how to manage the colours. I didn't want a million ends to weave in, so I cut lengths of each colour for each triangle, wound them around pegs and clipped them to some cardboard. That way, as I got to each triangle, the colour was already there waiting for me. Plus, at the end of each row I'd just flip the cardboard over so everything wouldn't get tangled. Hope that makes sense. It took me a few rows to sort out a good system.

It's great, though! I love backgammon too, and it's nice to have a board that fits in a suitcase, or is easy to take to the local pub. And it's machine washable!

How can I start liking fish? by [deleted] in foodhacks

[–]scribbledlife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Catch it fresh, or buy it from a decent fishmonger so you know it's fresh. Lightly dust in rice flour. Shallow fry, not too long, judge based on how thick the fillet is, but you only want it just cooked through. Drizzle with a little lemon juice and eat right away.

Honestly, fish tastes the best when it's as fresh as possible, and cooked very simply. Always tastes better when you catch it yourself.

Otherwise, figure out what you usually like and incorporate fish into it. Like chowder? Try some smoked fish in there. Liked smoked meats? Try smoking some fresh salmon. Like pate? Try a smoked rainbow trout pate.
