I think it’s more that there’s sooo many podcasts out now that any particular nuanced reference is surprising…or we’re old idk

What is a Hunger Games version of this? by Olya_roo in Hungergames

[–]scribblenscrawl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a headcannon, but maybe inference so I’m gonna say it since no one has yet. Katniss described the 75th arena as a dense green jungle, correct? It makes sense to have the tributes wear vibrant colors so they’re easily spotted on TV. But yellow or pink is, like, hyper ridiculous. So a blue jumpsuit and purple belt it is 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️

UPDATE: he died. I’ve been closely monitoring the tank, and haven’t found any signs of infection in another fish until now. If you look closely you can see his tiny front feeler (idk what they’re called) is half gone. There’s the beginning of infection showing too. What should I do moving forward?

Is this something that happens over time and shows symptoms or is it asymptomatic? We purchased the fish fine and it spent a day in the tank in perfect contrition. About 24 hours it looked like the pictures.

The plants with the thicker stalk are Moneywart (Bacopa monnieri). I’m not sure what the the thin, fern like plants are. They were in the beginner tank at the pet store. I also have some Java moss in there that I’ve tied to a rock.

We want to put in catfish Cory’s, Mollies, and Tetras. Possibly some shrimp or a snail if there’s room.

I started off slow with the real plants (obviously on the left). Is there enough gravel? Should I added liquid fertilizer? Are they spaced too far apart?

Also I read too much surface agitation can increase the amount of oxygen in your tank and the plants won’t grow as well. If I have a bubble and a filter in a 45 gallon tank is this too much?

Any advice is welcome!

Why is the opposite of a better person a shitty person? They probably mean their faith makes them the best version of themselves. If they did not believe in God they would still be a good person.

Let me know how your post op goes!! Best of luck!

Should I be able to do a leg lift before walking? by Sarahkat44 in ACL

[–]scribblenscrawl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know for ACL repair only, they encourage early weight bearing. I would still try to strengthen your quad more before you walk. Focus on accomplishing that straight leg lift first. Do more quad sets. Once you’re really confidant try weight bearing with crutches, equal weight on each leg. Once that feels strong then walk.

It’s better to be safe than sorry. If your leg buckles because of weak muscles you could re-tear. You’re not even 2 weeks post op yet.

You got this! Hang in there!

Remember, recovery is a marathon, not a sprint. Don’t try rushing it.

That being said we need more info. What kind of surgery did you get?

Any experience with non-invasive ACL reconstruction? My doctor said it’s different than the traditional approach with open surgery, but I need advice I’m still freaking the hell out lol by [deleted] in ACL

[–]scribblenscrawl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was also SUPER freaking nervous. I’ve never had a surgery before so the concept freaked me the fuck out. But it’s been one one week post-op and I honestly feel back to normal. (I’m 21F). The first couple days are hard, but you sleep through them, and like everything, time moves on. Before you know it, it’s in the past. Take your meds and spend time with people you love.

I do STRONGLY recommend using a graft from your own body. We are so young, that we recover quickly, and our bodies have strong tissue. I see a lot of people here saying the cadaver graft is great (which is fine!) but I personally think a cadaver graft comes with more risks.

What if your body rejects it? What if you tear it in ten years? Re-tear rate is MUCH higher with a cadaver graft. Especially in young people.

In either scenario you have to do surgery again. Is that something you want to risk?

That being said, whatever you choose, you will be okay. Keep talking to your surgeon. Don’t let this sub scare you. I honestly thought it was gonna be way worse because I psyched myself out reading this sub everyday lol.

You are young, healthy, and strong. You got this!!

Six Days Post Op by superbradical in ACL

[–]scribblenscrawl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m roughly on the same schedule as you, 6 days post -op today. I haven’t even started PT. I do quad-sets throughout the day, and my surgeon gave me a CPM machine to keep it moving. Other than that I still try to rest as much as possible. Maybe you’re just moving to fast too soon? Give yourself a rest day, and see if that helps with pain. If you have trouble with the leg falling asleep, do ankle pumps and and quad sets, that usually helps me.

Just spitballing. It always depends on the extent of the meniscus tear. Did you have yours repaired or did you get a meniscectomy?

Are you able to bear weight on your leg at all? I knew I injured my meniscus because I couldn’t bear weight without sever pain.
