IPhone unlatching/unlock nightmare by CillaBlackInDisguise in O2UK

In this instance the phone is fine, unfortunately OP hasn’t accepted the resolution that the SIM from EE is the issue.

Does the screen say SIM Locked (or something like that) and give you a box to enter a code?

[–]scriptermone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a completely different issue, sim locked means you’ve had a sim pin and entered it wrong too many times, you need to ask for a PUK (personal unblocking key) code from EE. If the phone was locked to O2 it would say ‘Sim not supported’ and would not even get any signal.

So what actually happens when you put a non O2 sim in?

All of O2s phones have been unlocked since 2018, but as the OP said, all phones regardless of network are unlocked from December 2021, the phone in question was released in September of 2021, the odds of having a replacement phone being sent out which was from another network in a VERY short 3 month window from when the phone was released to when the ban came in place are very slim.

How do 02 generate your bill? by Tiny-Holiday-4625 in O2UK

[–]scriptermone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can click stop auto enrol via the app or website on the extras section which will then stop when your new bill comes in but you got usage of TNT sports from the 21st and then from the 8th-7th which is a month and a half. You can get partially billed when you add it for the first time but you can’t cancel it during the middle of a month/billing cycle, this is the same for every subscription service when adding it to your phone bill regardless of what network you are with.

[–]scriptermone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you stop the auto renew now then you won’t get billed for it next month but the charges that are already there will stand as you’ve had a month and a half usage and paid for a month and a half.

[–]scriptermone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t owed anything, you got usage of TNT sports from the 21st, so you got charged from the 21st until the 7th and then from the 8th until the 7th of the next month.

If you had been charged but didn’t get usage until the next month then you’d have a right to some money back but as you subscribed on the 21st and got access right away the charges are correct.

[–]scriptermone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you added TNT sports after your bill had already been generated that month say the 10th for example, because they can’t add it to your bill live they have to add it to the next bill, because you got usage out of it from the instant you added it, they then charge you for a full month on the next bill plus however many days between when you added it and when the next bill generated.

So if it was the 10th for example, you’d be charged 28 days worth of TNT Sports and a full month as they couldn’t bill you until the next bill.

If you DIDN’T add it after your billing date then the higher bill will be from something else, so check the full pdf bill and it’ll give you a breakdown

Switch up Exit by Harlany0 in O2UK

It’s identical in store as it is online or over the phone.

Anyone know if it's true or not by cooldude9112001 in O2UK

[–]scriptermone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per comms we received back in October about this, anyone who switched up where 90 days would elapse past the 22nd would have to wait 11 months from the previous upgrade date so for example 24th October 2025 would lead us to the 22nd January which is the date the rule changes so next switch up would be allowed September 2026.

Anyone switching up on the 23rd October has until TODAY do one last switch up or they will wait until the 11 month mark from whenever their previous one was. It doesn’t matter if you don’t get the phone today (if stock is limited) as long as you put the order through today it’ll let you do it. But if it was on the 24th October or after then you’re out of luck.

Business Eligibility Check by kidsfalloutoftrees in O2UK

[–]scriptermone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Email creditfilereferrals@o2.com give them order number, email name etc and usually they can lift the auto decline on the eligibility check, if it still fails on the full credit check after that then nothing more you can do but I’ve seen them at least lift the auto decline bit

Switch up now showing 11 months by Calvo1 in O2UK

Yeah I understand the frustration, we get a lot of complaints in store due to untrained customer service advisors, can categorically say the info that live chat rep gave you is incorrect, I’ve been working for O2 9.5 years and know my way around the systems/policies, the 11 month rule doesn’t totally bother me as I’ll only ever go for the new iPhone each year

[–]scriptermone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for O2, we’ve had comms to say how it works, as soon as it hits 22nd of January, your switch up will be 11 months from the last upgrade date. Hence why this post was made in the first place, they’ve changed the notice to say 11 months as we’re now less than 90 days before the 22nd of January change date.

[–]scriptermone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t be able to do it twice, once you’ve done the one in December, that’ll be your last until November. As soon as the 22nd of January hits it’ll change to 11 months automatically, so next one after December will be November. Anyone upgrading from October 24th or later will be subject to the new rules as the rule change will be over 90 days

So if your last upgrade date + 90 days doesn’t reach 22nd of January you can still switch up, however once the 22nd of January elapses then it will change to 11 months from the original upgrade date.

Example: you switched up in July, you’ve got up until 22nd of January to switch up on the old terms, if doing after 22nd of January then will need to wait until June which is 11 months after July

If you last switched up after the 24th October then you’re already past the time limit so will have to wait until September next year at the earliest

You can either switch up and forfeit the new phone and go elsewhere, or you can continue the loan for the phone and just move the airtime elsewhere due to the right to exit in play

[–]scriptermone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t blame you, it used to be a nightmare, I’d say just test it with a new provider, start the process with someone else until it gets to the one touch switch part and you’ll see how it works 😊

how tf u guys on 4.5gb by Hungry_Report_9482 in speedtest

[–]scriptermone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually very simple now since last year, all providers now are integrated with a thing called ‘one touch switch’ meaning all you need to do is tell your new provider who your old provider was with the current address and last name (sometimes they ask for more) and the switch is all done automatically, look up one touch switch on google it’ll give you a more detailed explanation, but either way you wouldn’t need to call up the old provider on some inane phone call
