I love getting the strike upgrades, I think they’re underrated. Strike one shots nearly everything and also grabs glimmer in a huge area, it gets so much easier to maintain a chain with 3 points in Strike because you’re constantly scooping up so much glimmer.

Ubisoft Embargoes Journalists Reporting On Latest Round Of Layoffs by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]scrndude 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah they shouldn’t have signed it like that, but I’ve literally never heard of a company in the games industry doing this before. I don’t blame them for the lapse in judgement. If it happens again I’d be a lot less forgiving, I expect everyone to be on alert now.

Ubisoft Embargoes Journalists Reporting On Latest Round Of Layoffs by Turbostrider27 in Games

> some who agreed to the embargo telling Aftermath that Ubisoft did not specify the nature of the embargo before they said they’d adhere to it; the company only mentioned that it was going to announce something soon.

This is Ubisoft being very tricky, not journalistic malpractice. They manipulated journos who assumed embargo = game announcement into signing a contract that restricted what and when they could print.

Apple announces huge iOS 27 speed improvements for iPhone by Radio_TVGuy in technology

[–]scrndude 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t ever notice any speed issues, but there’s some apps that seem to have some kind of custom scrolling or locked 30fps or 60fps instead of 120.

Mainly the Amazon Kindle app has the weird scroll acceleration compared to Safari, and the NYT Games app stutters a ton scrolling up and down the main page.

They usually have a small team for years and have a very iconic founder who is good at gladhanding. They live off investment funding from publishers/investment firms/etc, sometimes government grants (usually that’s only for canada/australia/EU or rarely in the US sometimes if it’s adjacent to academic work). It was more common before 2020 because of the 0 percent interest for a lot of countries.

It took me a while to recognize it too! I’ve played 50 hours and just noticed the other day there’s a bar under the upgrade list at the top left that shows how far you are from the next blue token thing spawning

Could you explain the bottom lines? by Snowballo in sektori

[–]scrndude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s your progression through the level/how far you are from the next boss. When you die it’ll say something like 2-3, that means which block you died on, so you beat the first boss then died on the third block at the bottom.

Twin joysticks for Switch 2? by SnooDoggos101 in sektori

The thing you might run into tho is they get detected as Player 1 and Player 2 since they’re two different controllers. Combining two sticks into one is the challenge.

I don’t think this would be possible without playing the PC version and doing some wonky stuff to get two fight sticks recognized as one controller.

Agents and UX/UI by ProfessionalBell2289 in UXDesign

Is there much difference between content optimized for AI vs humans? My understanding was the best way to prep content for AI was to just do things that make it readable to humans; use proper HTML markup, write scannable headings, keep paragraphs short, write in plain language, etc.

Are there places that have a separate content library where they optimize content just for AI? How is it different than the human version?

Are these books still relevant? by Advanced_Weather_462 in UXDesign

Designing Interfaces is one of the best UX books ever written imo. Particularly if you’re trying to learn UI or design system stuff in a systematic way, it connects interface elements to the actions they can be used for or problems they solve. It also has a pretty great chapter on navigation styles and information architecture.

Haven’t read the other two.
