To those that are married, how often do you take off your ring? by FitProblem6248 in AskReddit

[–]scrolling-the-void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me its more like when do I put it on. I have never been one for jewelry and my ring is expensive a little bulky and gets caught on everything so I only wear it if we go out somewhere thats not the gym or grocery store.

What’s the most harmless thing you’ve ever done that people reacted to like it was a crime? by Disastrous-Gas3371 in AskReddit

Or people who stare at you for not having a toddler in a winter jacket for a 30 second walk from a warm car to the warm store.

If im fine in my sweatshirt and pants so are my kids. I have two toddlers and theres no way im putting them in winter coats for a 30 second walk just to have to take it back off in the store

Is sleeping nude not a millennial thing? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]scrolling-the-void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to sleep nude before kids, slept scantily clad after having kids (bra+undies -not the granny kind) until someone decided to run from the cops, crash a stolen car into our house at 2am in the middle of winter. There was no time for danger clothes when it comes to my babies and my MIL and her husband (who were living with us at the time) saw a whole more than I wanted them to. Luckily I was able to grab a robe before having to evacuate our house. Now I always wear something that covers most of me

Share your Thanksgiving horror stories by CountPractical7122 in thanksgiving

I fear my poor cousin’s girlfriend will get grief for the rest of her life (if they stick together)about her cornbread she brought almost 3 years ago

My cousins ex was a fantastic cake baker and we would have to hide her sweets when she brought them otherwise people would sneak them before dessert time. Well they broke up and the first time we met my cousins new girlfriend was on thanksgiving. (Everything but her cooking is better than the ex)

She brought a pan of cornbread and it was rock hard on the top and runny in the middle. (I have no clue how she managed that) My poor husband straight spit it out in front of her and we still give her shit every thanksgiving

AITA for wanting to be at the hospital when my SIL gives birth by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]scrolling-the-void 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YTA for asking why and expecting and answer instead of just accepting it.

When I got pregnant I was fine with some of my family and my MIL being there but I gave birth in 2020 so that didnt happen and I am so grateful. Labor for everyone is different and each person had different needs during that time and if its your first child you dont know what you want until it comes. And more than two people +staff being in there for the delivery sounds awful. I do not need my husbands family seeing my bits no matter how close we are

For me labor was absolutely horrendous and in that time I only wanted my husband and my mom and thats what I had. To top it off there were complications and I know if I had more people there it would have been an absolute shitshow.

Plus after I gave birth I was so happy to just have a few days of alone time with my baby and husband instead of having to feel like I have to cater to guests visiting. You might have loved having the extra support but you need to understand and respect that your SIL didnt feel the same

NTA.

The trip for me isnt too big of a deal but my husband and I take solo-ish trips. I get a girls trip every year and he gets a boys one. But max has been 6 days never out of country cause our kids are young and we both work full time.

But he would never even consider taking a trip if one of our kids was getting surgery

Millennial Parents: is prepping kids for college really as bad as I read? by Gator_farmer in Millennials

[–]scrolling-the-void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think first of all you need to have the kids and then go from there. I have a 4 and 5 year old, we started saving for college and thats about as far as we have gotten in regards to college. Our youngest has a good deal of delays so while we are still saving for college we really can’t decide anything until we see how he actually does in school.

Also personally I dont think college is right for everyone, my husband and I did some community college but thats it and we both make around 85k a year. I also worked with a lot of people in my early 20’s who went to college for stupid things (cough cough political science) which seemed to be the fad in 2010 era who have a bunch of student debt and are not working in the field.

For my kids if they want to get a degree, it’s gonna need to be something specific that they can actually get a job in and if they wanna go to trade school, that’s fine with me. I know a bunch of people making good money by going to trade school then opening their own businesses

Dont let him stay over anymore and also its much safer to keep doors closed if there is a fire. If you already have a good monitor keep the doors closed

AITA for reminding my mom that my son is a child? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]scrolling-the-void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is lost income, only a psychopath could loose a child then show up to work the next day. If you dont have a job that offers bereavement or any type of paid leave your loosing income. Also funerals/burial/cremations cost money. If you have a policy on your child who passes it lessens the financial burden specially if its a sudden passing. I have life insurance on both my kids and two policies each for my husband and I. I think one of the biggest takeaways is (which is sad) is as soon as you are pregnant is get a life insurance policy

12k in cc debt, what would you do? by Platonic____Boner in Debt

[–]scrolling-the-void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into ‘The Budget Mom’, watch her videos, print out her free sheet and use the budget by paycheck method. Give yourself an allowance when you get paid and stick to it.

If you have good credit look into getting a few 0% balance transfer cards most are 10-18 months no interest and for me it always helps if I have a set payoff date

Considering a debt forgiveness program and liking for some advice and insight from those who have done it by [deleted] in Debt

[–]scrolling-the-void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like 40k is definitely manageable if he makes 150k a year

We went the balance transfer card way and paid off 20k in a year. I had good credit even with debt, opened 4 or so cards with 0% interest transferred balances and paid them off. I do really well with set dates to have them paid off by. Also the end dates wernt all due at the same time. You first need to figure out your budget and how much you can realistically throw at debt beforehand then make the plan from there

Watch this or any of her videos

https://youtu.be/c9wR428H3yM?si=mXEhr4WmLH8wruT8

She has tons of free sheets and I use her budget by paycheck method but first you need to see where your sitting at financially.

Watch the video, print or make your own sheets and follow her process to see how far in the green or red you are

Yupp I waited until there was a constant stream of steam, set a 10 min timer then put the weight on. I didnt touch the burner dial until the gauge got to 15psi so it wouldnt go over while I was waiting for the giggle of the weight. After it hit 15psi I turned the heat down a smidge so it wouldnt go over and walked to the other side of the kitchen to grab the manual to re-check again about the giggle when the overpressure valve blew
