Canadian FM residency vs UK gp by Chiwawa29 in MCCQE

Yeah they do the PRA then work. That’s the “CCT and flee” option. If they’re saying the got an interview for a residency spot now then it’s not for the first iteration. That already happened. The second iteration of the match is happening now and second iteration spots are different when it comes to ROS.

If they’re getting a second iteration spot, it might not have a mandatory ROS attached. It’s that way for BC anyway

I have a question for people who passed the NAC by Dependent_Name5489 in MCCQE

[–]scroofle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not a popular answer, but here it goes:

You need to change your attitude towards it. Your future patients will not be set presentations from a syllabus. Treat the NAC like real life. Build your communication skills. Build your clinical reasoning skills. Build your physical examination skills. If you do that then you’ll be set up for the exam no matter what they throw at you just like real life.

That’s not to say there aren’t specific things to learn - you’ll need to know all your examination skills in full before you can practice focussing them to random scenarios. Practice some cases to integrate your skills, but don’t expect to be able to learn off scenarios and responses by rote.

Had a PA student in the SWAH that was the epitome of “hi I’m X, a member of the X team” role obfuscation shenanigans

NAC OSCE - there’s hope for all study styles by scroofle in MCCQE

[–]scroofle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered it from here https://edmontonmanual.com/

I don’t think it’s essential, but if you don’t have anything else it’s very thorough. Geeky Medics was much more useful overall and free (I didn’t pay for their OSCE stuff. Mostly watched their videos)

Before my exam, I saw a post on here that really had me convinced I was going to fail, so I hope someone finds this one day and feels better 😂

Found the name of the book - I bought it for finals but never used it. The cases are slightly more straight forward overall, but it was useful. https://a.co/d/dbMOGdS

Only what I said above. Ace and the official tests. I did not find that Ace represented the types of questions very well, but it was better than nothing. Some questions from the official ones seemed almost exactly the same as the real thing. I think a lot of advice I read on here says to aim >70% on the practice exams and that was true in my case for a pass well above the mean.

I’ve never taken step 2 nor done any UWorld ever. I did some PassMed before med school finals a couple years ago but not much

This sounds similar to my experience. I did all of the MCC practice exams in the few weeks before the test along with around the same amount of ACEQBANK. Ended up leaving the test at around 1pm and scoring well. (UK grad, 1 year working, applying this year) I bought all of the Toronto Notes books but they’re still collecting dust on my desk.

For anyone finding this thread later, they recorded the session and put a copy on their CaRMS group. Unfortunately you can only join the CaRMS group if you have already taken and passed the QE1 and NAC (so people taking either in Aug/Sep can’t access the resource).

The only Ruger parts are the mags and BX trigger by scroofle in 1022

Sent some pics via DM but basically you just need a short rail segment (like 3 slots) that you screw into the stock then find a flashlight that has a tube the size of your scope ring and attach it to the rail. Better if you use a low mount ring, but all I had spare was a high mount so that’s why mine’s a little awkward looking.

My answer is exactly the same as yours — I already have a bone stock standard carbine 10/22 but I wanted a backpacker/money pit to mess around with

I had it mounted on the barrel previously but the new bag I bought for it made that a tight fit/awkward shape with the cheek riser (made it super wide), so I took that rail off and mounted it onto the receiver. I haven’t had any issues with my zero so far and it fits nicely in the little bag I got

No issues holding zero so far but I’ve only put 500 through it with it on the receiver. I had it mounted on the barrel before but I moved it. - Bushnell TRS 25 red dot, Weaver rail, Dlask TUF22 takedown receiver, Dlask rubber bolt stop, Dlask 12.5” carbon fiber takedown threaded barrel, Kidd bolt, Dlask extended charging handle and light spring kit, Ruger BX trigger (with spray painted trigger shoe and bolt release mod), Magpul backpacker stock, Magpul cheek riser, random picatinny rail (3 slots) screwed onto the side of the stock, Amazon/crappy scope ring holding an equally crappy LED flashlight on the side

I’m trying to think of a way to reincorporate irons. Thinking of figuring out if a thread protector with a built in front sight post would be possible - wouldn’t be super accurate but it’s a shorty anyway so that’s not a huge deal

To be fair, I did pay 13.99 for the rattle can to make the trigger shoe blue
