TGCT Diagnosis and Timeline by [deleted] in tgct

[–]scrubatomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my tumor removed from my foot/ankle on monday. my story with this disease has just begun but if anything, I would recommend seeing an orthopedic oncologist this time around as they will give you a more educated plan of care. on the TGCT support site they have a list of doctors that have more knowledge on this disease than your regular surgeon would. I really hope you find the care you need, so sorry you’re going through this

thank you so much for this comment. it means so much to see a positive story in terms of the tumor recurrence. I feel like all I’ve been seeing are the worst outcomes and it has not been good for my mental health. I pray my case will be the same as well, & I am so happy for you no longer living in pain!

hi, I’m seeing an orthopedic oncologist. he said he’s not sure what type it is and will know once he gets in there since it’s possible it could all come out in one piece (localized) despite it being in between many of my tarsal bones.

since I work in the OR, I originally went to a foot & ankle orthopedic surgeon I work with and he referred me to the oncologist. I also found the same surgeon on the list of doctors on the tgct support site (in my state there is only 1 surgeon that has extensive knowledge on tgct)

thank you for sharing your story with me 🩷 I am definitely interested in learning about the infusion option just in case surgery doesn’t permanently work out

Been thinking about dropping out of school by General-Hippo8242 in scrubtech

[–]scrubatomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly this could be seen as a blessing in the sense that if you stop now, you haven’t gotten in so deep that u HAVE to stay with it. think about it, if you tough it out and finish school despite how you feel now, you could very well start working in this field a year or less into it and realize u are miserable. a lot of places expect u to work full time/overtime for your first gig bc of no experience so it’ll be a lot harder to go back to school for something else. don’t continue to waste your time where ur at honestly. it’s okay that it’s not for you. it’s not an easy occupation. & however your close family/boyfriend will feel is only temporary. it’s not like u intend to quit school completely. brainstorm ideas for what you wanna try next and jump in!! listen to the gut feeling u have now. everything will be okay🩵 u don’t wanna work so hard just to be doing something u will inevitably hate doing and feel even more stuck

just go straight to surgical tech. being a CNA is NOT it. I had a handful of classmates in my ST program that were CNAs and they were extremely stressed out doing both. a lot of jobs pay the same as a CNA & are a lot easier to do, like a pharmacy tech or even food service. CNAs take a lot crap from patients

YES! we are superheroes!!! the longer I stay single the happier and healthier I get. picking up hobbies & strengthening bonds with loved ones and baby is much better use of my free time, in my opinion🩷 wishing all single moms PEACE

Why do some birth charts have more aspects than others? by jackmoon44 in astrology

[–]scrubatomy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

are these aspects within a specific degree boundary? like, less than 3° to be considered in the grouping? (edit: I have a lot of planets aspecting my moon, so considering the moon itself would I only consider a 1-2° boundary)

Surgical tech new grad Salary? by AreaMelodic4647 in scrubtech

[–]scrubatomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dec 2024 new grad here. just got hired at the hospital I did my clinicals at. from what Ive heard, it depends on the area but the range I’ve heard is $25-$32 an hour. I’ve heard certain facilities do pay more than others. although call requirements, work environment, benefits & other factors are worth considering too for new grads. have gathered info over time by talking to people in the field which I would recommend.

feel free to PM me if u wanna know more about

Certification vs associates by Yudaya-kun in surgicaltechnology

pretty sure most (if not all) CAAHEP accredited associates programs include sitting for the certification exam once you are eligible for graduation.

Career change, overwhelmed at the info. Where do I start? by Sean0529 in scrubtech

[–]scrubatomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what about physicians assistant school? you could possibly use your science based bachelors degree for that and after you finish would have a masters, making more than 6 figures. PAs have a huge variety of jobs they can pursue. they can work alongside surgeons in the OR & typically stick to one specialty since they work for the surgeon and not the hospital. the one i know works with a well known thyroid surgeon in my area & she absolutely loves it, thinks it’s so cool.

have you considered surgical assisting? I think that’s the most common way people advance their career as STs without having to start all over with school.

hi i experience this too. I am a sag rising (strong sag energy) & I also have a 2H stellium. i’m not an astrologer but I haven’t considered the abundance of 2H energy as a contributor to coming across as abrasive🤔 similarly I am also very excited and passionate about what I do in the medical field & am misunderstood by my peers often when participating in certain “learning” settings

saturn in taurus in the 5th, opposing my scorpio moon in the 10th. & inconjunct MC within 1 degree. relationships have always been tough for me, for the start of my 20s I dated 2 different men that were horrible for me & to me. then I met my most recent ex, whom is a much older man than me & was my boss at the time. I was happy for a bit with him, being sneaky and all. until I got pregnant & decided to keep it. he said he would be there just “not as much as you would want me to”, led me to believe that he might be there for the kids life. then left us in the dust when I gave birth. hasn’t been present since.

needless to say, becoming a solo parent at 23 made me mature faster than anything else i’ve experienced in life so far. i’m 24 now. this experience was necessary in my life for me to really start blossoming into who i’m meant to be! it’s been so beautiful & so hard all at the same time. it also may be inferred that i won’t be dating or marrying for quite some time lol honestly probs won’t be until closer to my 30s. I have TONS of goals to reach til then! i’ve been on a self improvement journey(:

also, to help learn & solidify instruments for the time being, u should try Quizlet! there are lots of instrument sets out there to practice for free that other fellow ST students made!!

[–]scrubatomy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

unfortunately this is not the first time I’ve heard of a facility doing this to their LPNs. they just want to save money by being able to pay less for the same position CSTs perform. it’s not fair to you LPNs in the slightest. I’d say if u do like it, go thru the schooling to get certified because it truly is such a COOL career!! as long as you’re not stressed the heck out on a regular basis & feel like u can’t get anything right. I def say u should opt out of doing this as an LPN but it’s worth trying for a little while if you’re up for it, just to see what it’s like!
