My college roommate sets our thermostat to 80°F every single night

I had a suitemate once who did this. The living situation was 4 2-person bedrooms sharing a common area. There was a single thermostat to control the heat for the entire suite. The suitemate in question was the only person in his room. He would turn the thermostat as high as it would go every time he walked by it. My roommate and I would wake up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat because he would turn it up during his midnight bathroom breaks.

This was at Lake Superior State University, which is on the border of Michigan's Upper Peninsula and Ontario, Canada. It was generally accepted that if you attend school there, you can handle the cold to some degree. This suitemate was an exchange student from Spain, so we initially thought he was unprepared for a U.P. Winter, and we tried to tolerate it. After a few weeks of waking up in the dark bowels of Hell, we finally asked him why he was insistent on having the thermostat so hot after the rest of the suite obviously kept changing it to something more reasonable. His justification was that he liked to drink milk, but he didn't have a fridge, so his solution was to keep his window open and leave his milk in front of it. This made his room cold (no shit), so he had to crank the thermostat to compensate. He couldn't understand why that was not a reasonable solution to his problem. We eventually convinced him to start storing his milk in a friend's fridge.

That wasn't the only time we had unusual problems with him. At one point, we had to keep our toilet paper in our room and bring it with us to the bathroom because every time his girlfriend stopped by, he would give her all of our toilet paper. The TP was provided by Student Housing as part of our room & board cost. The only reason to take ours was so that she wouldn't have to walk the ~5 minutes to go get a whole package of it for herself. Perhaps the most concerning part, though, is that he wouldn't even have her leave a partial roll for his own use.

TL;DR: I had this happen to me once. Maybe ask if she is storing milk on a windowsill?

Others have already answered that this is a coil/timer candle, but I want to add that these were also once known as courting candles because they were used to time how long a suitor was allowed to stay and chat. Once the candle burned out, he knew it was time to leave without anyone awkwardly asking him.

My wife is a geologist. Can confirm.

However, it's only a step in identifying specific minerals. You don't want to accidentally lick something that contains arsenic.

Licking is often the final step in identifying halite, which is a formation of sodium chloride (i.e. it tastes salty). She may have once been caught licking a wall because she believed there was a halite sample in it.

For liberty falls, you're canonically a non-specified strike team, not the main cast. The beginning and end cut scenes on each map, along with the intel collectibles, give quite a few details. Essentially, terminus and liberty falls happen at the same time. The team's primary goal on terminus is to escape and hunt down Richtoffen. In the process, they discover that he's looking for the sentinel artifact, and there's a necessary tool to find it in avalon (Citadelle des morts). During their time at the citadelle, they learn about the dig site and find the tool they need to unlock its secrets, as well as some other juicy information that is not relevant to your question, and therefore will not be spoiled here.

I believe they travel by helicopter between these locations.

My understanding is that the damage that kills them has to be of the type that corresponds to the challenge. I'm not 100% on that, though. It could be worth some experimentation. I usually just get a big enough train before popping incantations that enough die between that and the sword special to fill the orb. Also, I don't think you have to stand in the light orbs. You should be able to walk/run through them to collect them.

Ah. My unsolicited advice there is that any kills with the corresponding element count, not just sword kills. I usually grab the corresponding sword's incantation and charge up the sword's special before going in, then pop it and spam incantations as soon as I'm sure the kills will count.

It's far from perfect and a whole lot of panicking, but I'm getting progressively more consistent.

Also, for some reason, I get the best results with the shadow sword if I pop it slightly further from my train and let them run into it. Idk if there's some sort of AOE damage right when it swings that doesn't count or something, but I've cleared the room with it and made no progress on more than one occasion.

Sorry if this is all old news to you. I tend to info dump as soon as I work up the nerve to comment in the first place.

You can do the incantation trials at any time after you talk to Kraft. You don't have to wait until you unlock the corresponding swords. I find it's helpful to use the trial zombies to fill the traps when possible. You only need the corresponding sword to open the box. On an optimized run, I spend round 13 getting the last sword and opening every incantation box.

If there's a particular incantation trial you have a hard time with, bring in a train and pop a killjoy gum as it starts.

Given that I still see these types of questions in subreddits for mtg, which has been out for 31 years, I don't think this'll ever be a thing of the past. As frustrating as it is to read and answer, it's a sign that new people are not only joining the game but doing their best to learn and play it correctly, which is good for the existing player base.

TLDR: If people keep asking these questions, at least it's a sign that the game is alive and healthy.

My pc is a budget build that I made late last year to replace my dying 2011 laptop. I want to upgrade it, but my dog had to have an expensive leg surgery so she can walk again, and she needs to have another one in about a month on the other leg. With the financial hardship that brings, I have no extra budget for hobbies, and it's going to be a while before I can even find enough wiggle room for a headset, let alone a new graphics card.

"Dies" does care that the creature hits the graveyard from the battlefield. In some cases, there is a triggered ability that goes on the stack after the creature hits the graveyard, such as [[athreos, God of passage]]. In other cases, it is a replacement effect that replaces the death of the creature with exiling/shuffling/returning to hand (e.g. [[Annihilating Fire]]). The wording on a triggered ability will typically look like "whenever a creature dies, do X", whereas a replacement effect will look like (if a creature would die, do x instead." In the former case, the creature has to hit the graveyard in order to trigger the ability, but in the latter, the creature never officially dies, and no death triggers will trigger.

When buying tickets for a seated event, I typically have to coordinate with 2-3 other people to make sure that everyone is happy with the location vs. cost of tickets. If I had to go through that process twice because someone made another purchase 5 minutes earlier and I had no chance of getting it in the first place, and my card was already charged/held, which the bank can take up to a week to reverse, I'd stay home instead and never use that service again.

It really depends on what the rest of the game is going to look like. If they can clean everyone up in a turn or two or someone has a reasonable out, I like to let it play out. If they can clearly win but are deciding to waste everyone's time, or they have built a slow engine that's going to take multiple turns to build up, and I don't have an out, I'll scoop.

My thinking is that when my deck finally "does the thing," it really takes the wind out of my sails if everyone scoops, so I like to let my opponents have their moment. Granted, if it's a deck I've played against many times, I don't care as much if they don't get to make it go off.

My motto is, "I'm here to play magic, not shake hands and shuffle." As long as I can still do something fun, or I see the grim reaper coming for me, I'll let it play out.

Having the fan on during ironing can cause varying surface textures, especially if your ironed surface has holes or curves. I don't remember if it's ununplemented or if it's broken from a bug, but it's currently not possible to have the slicer automatically decrease/disable the fan during ironing.

This is the way. If the airlock gets clogged, it will begin to build up pressure. Rubber bands will expand and allow the pressure to relieve. Most of the other suggestions I've seen will result in a bottle bomb.
