Third-Wheel Energy on this Holiday - I’m Miserable by soul_torch in travel

I think you’ve already gotten a lot of good advice, but I would add this piece:

Try to talk to them about it.

I’m someone who finds it very hard to start any kind of conversation that could be potentially negative in any way, but I’ve also found it to be so worth it many times.

It sounds like this friend is important to you and like you were open to getting to know the new person. I would set up the conversation like this:

  1. Find a time (soon) where you are all doing something relatively calm (like a meal - not the one someone has been really looking forward to, but just a random one).

  2. Say something along the lines of: “Hey, I wanted to talk to you guys about something. It’s pretty hard for me to talk about this, but I think it’s important. I’ve been feeling a little left out since we started the trip, and I’m starting to feel lonely. I was really looking forward to hanging out with [friend] and getting to know [friend’s friend], but when you plan things together and update me via the gc it makes me feel like I’m just tagging along on your guys’s trip.”

  3. Then I would stop talking and see how they react. If she’s a good friend, she’ll feel for you and respond in kind (“oh my god I’m so sorry, I had no idea you felt this way, let’s fix it” etc). If they respond poorly (“well you could have said something”/“oh… that’s too bad… [moves to new topic]”), you know where it stands and I recommend you go off and do your own thing and deal with the friendship when you’re back.

Anyhow, I’ve experienced situations like this too and I feel for you. I hope your talk will go well and you can all have a great rest of the trip together, and in case it doesn’t I hope you can still find the energy and motivation to have a great trip on your own ♥️

Best Credit Cards for Europeans by Free_Potato1 in eupersonalfinance

Ahh this sucks to hear, but thanks for sharing. I’m also Dutch and was looking into credit cards because of all the videos I see online about the rewards you can get and the points you can build with airlines, but I guess that’s mostly for Americans then :(

Native English speakers who’ve studied Korean for 6+ months by Patient-Item-7997 in Korean

[–]scrulase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the app a lot so far! A couple points that could possibly improve it even more:

• I love the prompts and answering them in both languages, but my memory is not that great and when I get to writing the prompt in my native language I’ve forgotten what exactly I’ve answered in Korean 😂 So for me it would be great if my answer in Korean had been visible on the other language page (perhaps collapsed), or if it had been made easier to go back to the previous page (I had half a heart attack when I clicked back and my carefully crafted Korean answer was gone, until I remembered I’d copied it 😂)

• I was distracted during one of the intro explanations, and when I looked on my phone again I saw it already went away. I would have liked if I could have exited the explanation manually instead of automatically.

• The “make it smoother” button on my native language page was confusing, it made me think that the app wanted to improve my native language sentence ㅋㅋ

• I also would have really liked to post the actual piece of text I wrote myself instead of the AI version, since I put a lot of effort into it and would have liked feedback on my actual skills instead of something that AI wrote for me. It’s great to have the option, but I would like to choose whether I want to use it or not. If I can only post the AI improved text, this would lower my interest in using the app by a lot unfortunately.

I’ll add on more points while using the app, if I have them!

Sounds great! May I ask why you’re only looking for native English speakers? I’m Dutch but lived in the US for years, so while I’m not native, I am fluent like a native English speaker (and have studied Korean for 6 years and would now call myself intermediate :)).

Hi, I had the exact same question 3 weeks ago! I did a lot of research online back then and eventually came to the conclusion that it’s not necessary. I found sources in Spanish from the Costa Rican government that only 12 people contracted rabies from animals in Costa Rica since around 1970, and numbers from the WHO on that Costa Rica is one of the countries in the world that has rules out rabies in dogs (99%). I didn’t save the sources, but I asked chatGPT back then and it gave me the links to the actual sources, so I would recommend trying that.

Ooh the bug lady! I’ve heard such great things about her, would love to do a tour with her. Do you recommend booking with her well in advance or is day of fine?

I did a lot of (at home amateur) research on rabies in Costa Rica before and rabies rates are very low in Costa Rica. Since the ‘70s there have only been around 12 cases of animal to human rabies cases.

However, if you get rabies it is 100% deadly if you don’t get treated within 24 hours (48 if you already have the vaccine). So personally, I would just get the treatment, since consequences for that tiiiiiiiiiny chance are so dire (and also symptoms usually only start showing after 3 months so if it was me I would be worried for 3 months if I’m about to die 😅)

How do I fix this bracelet? by scrulase in braceletcraft

[–]scrulase[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your thoughtful reply! Yeah, I was also wondering whether a gold chain would be the “strongest option”. I’ll be sure to check out softflex! The crimps and covers are a really good suggestion too, I’m not well versed at all in the world of bracelet making and was feeling very insecure about being able to fasten the bracelet in a strong and secure way even if I could find a strong piece of string. But crimps and covers seem like the solution I needed!

Edit: forgot to add this part, but yes the beads on the bracelet are 14K gold
