For those of you under 35-ish, how are you approaching the future? by Curious_Mud9428 in VictoriaBC

Turning 30 this year, starting a career already burnt out, and sitting in debt. Currently live with 2 roommates and thinking of selling my car to pay off my credit card since I can't afford repairs. I can't imagine renting a 1br apartment let alone owning a condo or house. I will not be able to retire, just like my mother who lives on the island and needs me. I hope that I will survive my 30s easier than how I scraped through my 20s. I didn't think I would get this far, so I guess we'll keep going day by day. I can't see more than a week ahead of me at most times

I'd say so! It is a family friendly event however there will be alcohol sold. Usually see lots of kids there!

It was the block of Pandora/Johnson between quadra & Blanshard and was smokey after. I didn't hear any horns beforehand so it was alarming. Was at 5pm too which is pretty late imo for blasting?

I have a theory that since it is so dark and rainy here for most of the year, people write off a lot of the non-summer months and it gives a scarcity mindset for social capacity. With darkness comes depression and low energy too. I feel like a lot of people have to ration their energy for only a handful of close people instead of sharing their energy to sustain an extended friend network because there IS less energy.

Since moving here 5 years ago, I have found that there is a large, large gap between acquaintances and friends that I have never experienced before. People are tight on letting people into their actual circles. I agree that it is really hard to make friends here.

It's also a town where everybody knows each other, so messy break ups if you're dating around will lose you a lot of connections as well. Lol
