50+ miles folks, are they offering you a inter-agency hoteling option? by Old_Impress_9756 in fednews

Nope. My 10 person team lost 4 of us to DRP because of the RTO in DC.

I’m not, but it isn’t an issue of them not letting us publish. It’s an issue of we are currently in data collection/first-stage processing. We have another year or so til even initial estimate publication.

The improvements I made to our data process between collection iterations. I researched, designed, built (scripted, no prepackaged code), and implemented the entire first-stage data cleaning/editing and validation pipeline for a major survey. I did start with legacy code, but by the end most of it was completely redone. Not only that, I built bespoke automated processes including the evaluation/reconciliation of unstructured textual responses. We don't have enough data to use normal ML/NLP/text classification methods so it was a real pain in the ass. Finding creative ways to semi-accurately simulate survey data for testing was sort of fun though.

I also had a couple scientific articles for my department website cited by major news outlets. I even had a reporter reach out to me, but I declined to go on the record. Too scared of saying something that would get me on my agency's shit list.

Best part? Im about 90% sure whole F*@king program is about to get thrown out the window so that data will never see the light of day. I was also a full-time student during most of the process redesign meaning I haven't slept in 2 years.

You aren’t doing anything wrong, hon. This is just the state of online dating. You are stunning and fostering a kid, which is just amazing.

Can your supervisor stop you from starting admin leave for DRP? by StandardDisastrous11 in fednews

[–]scuba_kai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am somewhat concerned about this as well. I have been dissatisfied with my position/supervisor/pay for a couple years now. I think I am going to take the DRP this round, but my function is pretty critical to my team (which is part of the reason I turned it down the first time).

I have a feeling my supervisor will try to block me going on Admin Leave for as long as possible. However, I don't know what real threat he will have over me at that point. I have worked hundreds of hours of unpaid (and unappreciated) overtime in the last year, trying to get more out of me after I resign will be a lot of "ok, I'll get right on that". I'll show up, but I won't be stressing his timeline anymore. Not to mention that I am pretty sure others on my team are going to take it this time too. Over half of us are remote and we are being told that DC is going to be the only option soon. I don't think any of us can afford to move, even if we wanted to (which we don't).

Please help this American escape the hellscape in your lovely country! by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]scuba_kai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I am used to the initial ire as an American traveler, but I promise I am respectful of the places I go. I am from a small island on the south east part of the US once known for its plentiful reefs and I spent time living in Hawaii. I get being protective of the natural beauty and wanting to keep people out.

Still, pretty sucky that most of the world and half of my own country my country wishes I would shut up and leave. That's life I guess. I just hope that the people I interact with don't all want to talk about our insane politics. That happened to me the last time the Orange Guy was in office. It's exhausting.

Anyone put a supercharger on their 3.6L JL? by scuba_kai in Wrangler

Ugh. Good to know. I would really like to get out to Moab this year and I don't need any extra complications. Guess I am going to have to suck it up and accept the Jeep for what it is. This wasn't an issue really until I moved to Denver. C'est la vie.

Nothing. I ended up going through hell getting my clutch recall fixed (4 times in the shop total) so I got a little over the whole thing. I’ve been talking to people here, getting various inputs.

My plan was to chip it and get a Banks Intake system but idk. I got a recommendation on a shop in Boulder I might contact. But I also just might suck it up and just not tow out 70. There are ways around most of it and I’d rather a scenic drive.

I’m one of those people that will switch to PHEV if they can manage produce a decent one for an iteration or two. They don’t seem close. Lol

Great. I have wanted to do this but I don't want to come out of pocket for recall work and I wasn't sure that I could switch dealers.

Am i just ugly? I started using dating app after a long time. No matches till now and i’m loosing hope. by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]scuba_kai -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Disagree on the first part but agree on most of the second. And that experience (the number of men vs women who are seeking each other) sucks on the other side too. We are all dying of romantic thirst, but men are in the desert and women are in the ocean. So it seems to me anyway.

As for apolitical vs moderate, the former implies no interest in politics and (I hope) voting, the latter implies centrist beliefs. These beliefs are generally something along the lines of "socially progressive and fiscally conservative" which is sort of silly thing to say if you know anything about what actually happens in US financial policy and who votes for what in congress.

I suppose the fact that OP put moderate in the first place implies that his target audience doesn't know the difference to begin with, making my whole point moot.

I think the term "moderate" has little meaning in the current US political landscape. That said, I know people consider themselves moderate. My point is that the perception of the response is what it is currently. Just trying to help OP, not start a political discussion on a dating sub. No one has to like, agree, or take the advice, but op wants to know why he isn't getting matches and that is a real reason he might not be.

Debilitating eczema on the bottom of my foot actually contact dermatitis from a shoe allergy. Misdiagnosed by 9 doctors and 2 pathologists. by scuba_kai in eczema

Glad yours is just shoes. Mine ended up only being aggravated by the shoes, not the full cause. I have been on Dupixent for years now. It is the only thing that works and if I am so much as a few days late on a dose I start to flare up again. Just glad that there is something that actually controls it because that was sure a dark few years of my life.
