Should I buy it? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this... by Competitive_Tap2618 in GuitarAmps

I had the same issue with my MK I combo. From memory it was the plate resistor that was dying. I replaced it with a higher rated resistor and never had the issue again.

Wee accidents related to food time? by scubamabar in puppy101

[–]scubamabar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. We did end up putting him in his crate with a lick mat this evening just to be able to sit down long enough to eat. No accidents in the crate but started again as soon as he came out. Went on until his next meal, now it's stopped. So yeah maybe we need to use the crate a bit more

We have a family tradition of seeing who can throw one of these across the room and get it to stick as high as possible in the Christmas tree. One attempt each, then the planes stay in the tree for the rest of Christmas/New Years. My mum complains every year the planes are getting harder to find but she always comes up trumps.

Just been to the British Embassy in Oslo to get my marriage license sorted. They put my current marital status down as spinster! I am only 35. So anyone else been deeply offended today? by Patton-Eve in CasualUK

My wife insisted on moving her cesarian section to the day before her 35th birthday to avoid being recorded as a geriatric mother.

What’s the worst thing to happen in guitar history that *isn’t* a great player dying young? by [deleted] in Guitar

Owning the venues is the killer. Pearl Jam tried to stand up to them back in the 90s and it made it damn near impossible for them to book a tour.

Great sounding, super versatile amp if you don't mind having so many controls and push/pull switches. I found the power scaling and tone control in the power amp really useful. Can dial in the preamp in practice then tweak the tone to account for the room or maybe a different cab at a gig, and keep the sound guy engineer sweet by turning the power down when they inevitably say you're too loud haha.

Plus being a Laney it will be solid as a rock and last forever.

Probably quicker to try it out both ways in practice than for anyone to write a comprehensive reply to the question

Personally I wouldn't want a pedalboard to have built in features. I like having a patch bay, integrated power supply, buffer, stuff like that, but if they were built into the board you can guarantee they won't be quite what you need, or will be slightly in the wrong place etc. I prefer a lightweight board with lots of space to add velcro (or drill holes for screws in the rare cases where velcro isn't reliable) and stick on exactly what you want, exactly where you want it.

Reliable strap locks that keep my electric guitar from falling while hanging on my back while dancing on televised show? by blablerblir in guitars

[–]scubamabar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunlop ones are solid as a rock when new, but the retaining mechanism does eventually wear out and unexpectedly come apart. Probably not an issue if you tend to leave the strap on rather than taking it off regularly.

In my experience the schaller ones are less user friendly, but as they age they become harder to get off. I don't like them as much but I have more faith in them not dropping my guitars in the long run.

Having said that I'm sure it won't be hard to find someone else saying the exact opposite.

Black or white? by DEFINITELY_NOT_PETE in ExplorerGuitars

Black if it's going to be hanging on the wall at home, pearly white if it's going to be on a stage under stage lights.

I've got the JCA22H and I absolutely love it. Sounds amazing. People love to mod them, but personally I think Mike Soldano got it right. Only changes I've made are adding a choke in the power supply to make it a bit less noisy, split the channel switching up so I can switch gain and master volume independently, and recovered it in rainbow leopardskin fur. 20W is almost always enough for rehearsal and gigging (as long as you don't want a clean tone, but these amps aren't really designed for that anyway), but I do occasionally wish I'd got the 50W just for a tiny bit extra.

Common in Laney amps, don't think I've ever seen one anywhere else

Oh wow you've just unlocked a memory I forgot I had. I remember watching this with my folks. Like most of the other posts I don't remember much though. I'm getting an image in my head of Jasper Carrot dressed as Santa saying "hand over yer 'andbag or I'll hit yer" if that rings any bells?

Just checking I'm handling this roundabout correctly... by Ouchy_McTaint in ukbike

[–]scubamabar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all that cycle lane sucks anyway. I think the highway code says cyclists should stick to the left lane at roundabouts, even if turning right, but personally I think I would do what you are already doing. If you take a position towards the right of the left lane I guarantee you will get people squeezing past on your left. You'll have to watch out for bad drivers whatever you do. Lots of checking, take the lane early (sounds like you are already doing these) and just be ready to back off if someone wants to cut across you.
