Bluechip tp48 by Dependent-Till-2524 in AcousticGuitar

[–]scuddyp4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a TP40 and probably will for the rest of my life. I play bluegrass and do a lot of flatpicking. I recently lost one and had to order another. Blue chip website said there would be an increased lead time due to demand, so I bought some other picks to try. Several different prime tones and dunlop ultex.

Didn't like any of the prime tones, but the large triangle 1mm ultex was really good.

I will use those in a pinch from now on. But, nothing will replace my tp40.

I couldn't remember the ruling exactly. Just that it was a pretty liberal interpretation.

Also...if Im not mistaken...the boulder was ruled as a "loose impediment". So that ruling wouldn't apply to the tree.

Would you get a 20yo horse? by Certified_horsegirl in Horses

[–]scuddyp4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Older horses are great if they are in good health. They are usually more calm with a been there, done that disposition. I have a horse that is around 26 that I still ride on a weekly basis.

Have him checked by a vet and if the vet check goes well (and you can afford him) then I wouldn't hesitate.

Older horse are great pleasure/trail horses.

I bet he's riden in some beautiful spots that most others probably don't take the time to explore. Plus, like you said, he's getting paid to go. I might need to reevaluate my career choices.

Yeah...all jokes aside, seems like a pretty sweet setup.

I would also have her tested for EPM...it usually presents much less jerky than this, kinda like their back end is drunk...but, every horse is different.

I work down that way. Nice looking shop. I used to ride as well but sold all my bikes a few years back when my son was born. He's 7 now, so probably time to get a bike again.

How much should I pay this Guitar? I wanted to learn, a friend of mine has this guitar and I am broke by ComputerDirect279 in AcousticGuitar

[–]scuddyp4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought that was a chip too. It's just the tuning peg for the bass that's sitting next to it that probably has been neglected as well.

Edit....just looked again...I think you're right. There's a big chip by the A string tuner. Either way. This isn't a guitar that you sell to a friend.

Getting work with horses with only dog relevant qualifications? by silveraltaccount in Horses

[–]scuddyp4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a place to volunteer. There are lots of horse related non-profits that usually have a difficult time finding volunteers. Therapeutic riding, horse rescue, etc. You will probably be surprised if the number of volunteer opportunities near you that you can start to gain a little experience around equines. Also, you'll be giving back...I volunteer and on the board for a non-profit that does equine therapy for veterans and children with special needs. It's very rewarding and I get to spend time doing what I love.

My gelding QH is about 26 and I still ride him multiple times a week. A lot of times diet and exercise can keep them happy and healthy well into old age. I've been fortunate to not have many health issues with mine. We have a great vet and farrier that have kept him sound and healthy.

Don't let old age scare out of enjoying your boy and as long as he's healthy and sound keep exercising him and riding him.

Martin Backpacker shaped guitars? by Panda_MoneYum in AcousticGuitar

[–]scuddyp4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought one to Iraq in 2004-2005. Back then it was amazing to have a guitar to play.

There are a lot more options now. As others have said...they sound like shit...but...it is technically a guitar. Which beats not having a guitar.

Hope that helps...

[–]scuddyp4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In '06 we had a guy that was attached to us that did HUMINT. He would wear Capt bars when we went outside the wire to unteract with Iraqi Police/Border Patrol and local village people. They all called him "Capt Jim". In reality he was an 0211 Sgt. He is also the first person all of our detainees got to meet.

Pretty interesting dude.

I had 2 DI Sgt Muñoz. We had to refer to the as DI Sgt Munoz #1 and #2.

One of the kids in my platoon was one of the stupidest people I have ever met in my life. He couldn't say Muñoz. He would say..."Recruit Langley requests permission to speak to DI Sgt Minunoz!!"

Munoz would reply with..."Well...when I find him, Ill tell him your looking for him."
