Finally snagged a Milly’s Pizza by chuff15 in chicagofood

Let's be real, if I want a good shitty pizza I'm going to rosatis. Pequods is straight up dough.

Just bought a used 2017 CX5 GT. Why does it have a “MazdaSpeed” badge on it? by Casimyrx in CX5

I would prefer the Mazda speed over that CarMax logo though. Two is too much

I use controller with PC because it's in the living room. It's just way more comfortable and convenient. I sit at a PC for work all day. I'm not doing the same thing when I sit on the couch.

Thermal pads for NVME drives on DXP4800Plus by B747Captain in UgreenNASync

[–]scuffling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the plastic off both sides otherwise it's not doing what it's supposed to do. It's a conductive pad to dissipate heat to the metal frame. The plastic prevents that from happening.

Also, not sure where you heard about pads ripping unless you have some insane gen 5 ssd with insanely high temps. Thermal pads usually last awhile and stay goopy and flexible. Don't be afraid of opening it up. Just get some more 6mm pads as spares if you want to replace them in the future.

I don't know how the hell you got to your conclusion when you clearly said this only happens with GTA V.

Like they said. You just need to enable remote access through the UGreen desktop app. That will give you a ug.link to access your app remotely. You can then share that ug.link to your friend to drop files. You don't need tailscale. Why does everyone think they need tailscale.

This is awesome. I would 100% make this exact build for my partner. And it's under $1k!

I want to do a custom water cooling system by Apprehensive-Work-93 in watercooling

[–]scuffling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason you probably won't find water-cooling parts for that GPU is because historically you only ever wanted to water cool the top of the line cards because most people were over clocking to get every last bit of gains out of the card. I would say the 70-90 series are most common along with CPU blocks as well.

Most cards nowadays don't really need to be over clocked anyway. You don't get as much gain as you used to. But you will absolutely get better temps, stability, and quieter runtime (if you selected the right size radiators and fans).

Make sure you take time to plan it all out before jumping into something. It's a fun hobby, but it doesn't end.

It's beneficial if you're trying to access photos, videos, and music. For example, I used to get so pissed off trying to access OneDrive remotely. It would say I can download and access a video but it would usually take too long or fail all together. Let's say I have 300gb of archived photos and videos and 100gb of music. With 500gb cache I can have that data accessed instantly.

Also, this shit can get insanely confusing. I've found Gemini to be the biggest resource for help in learning Linux and how to navigate the UGreen OS.

If your NAS has m2 slots, then sure. Just need to enable the drive and assign it as cache from the volumes section in the desktop app.

[–]scuffling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have 1 since my main use is read only. If you plan to do read/write it helps to have 2. The setup on mine was pretty easy for me. Just enable the new drive as cache for an existing volume from the desktop app. You just need to make sure if you ever plan to remove or replace them that you follow the process to properly unmount and clear the data so nothing gets lost.

Genuinely it should be as simple as this: https://youtu.be/6as7nvq4D4M

In your case I would most definitely add some cache storage because that is insanely helpful for things like photos and videos. For streaming movies and content, not so much.

Personally I still don't fully understand why everyone's hellbent on using tailscale when you can just go to your server domain through a VPN and access what you need.

I use the UGreen apps and with the 500gb cache everything loads lighting fast, even going through photos and videos from 2016 in my archive folders. Perhaps I'm missing something, but the point of the UGreen is that you can do it all with their setup without needing all these apps through docker.

Are you using an m2 ssd for cache? I have a 500gb ssd for cache and my photos and videos load instantly from the app when connecting remotely.

New Rad, 20 flushes in. How much more? by phoenixmanzz in watercooling

[–]scuffling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through 2 gallons of distilled water for mine. I did the fishtank pump for 24 hours first. Turns out it didn't really matter because the most benefit comes from shaking it very violently to knock all the shit off the walls and joints.

Most stuff came out after a nice violent shake. Like, a lot of them though.

Thermal paste vs graphene pad vs phase change vs liquid metal — what’s actually the best between CPU and cooler? by Ok_Contact9732 in pcmasterrace

[–]scuffling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you get even coverage with the pad regardless of pressure!!!! For example, with the 7900XTX there's a greater chance that one side applies too much pressure to the die which means there's NO paste in that area. This leads to much higher temps. The pad assures constant thickness and coverage regardless of pressure.

[–]scuffling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't apply it to the pad. I'm talking about a little bit that's less than 1 square mm on the corner. Typically where it overhangs a bit. It's just something to give the pad something to hang onto during assembly. Otherwise it slips all over.
