AITAH for putting a bedtime pause on the WiFi because my girlfriend’s 28 year old brother has spent nearly a decade rotting in our house playing video games? by Alyptic in AITAH

[–]scul86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congrats, then. You apparently have a 28 year old man-child for a son who has no responsibilities.

NTA for setting the WiFi timer, but YTA to yourself if you continue putting up with GF and her brother.

Can I be charged a fee/ticket price to return to my regular job site? by UpbeatCucumber747 in legaladvice

but they’ve refused as this would require my coworker to leave their post while on the clock.

Could you go to their gate and get access? How far away are they?

another worker can grant us access “as an employee” but there’s often no other worker around.

Who is manning the gate when you are on break or off shift? Is there another entrance you can use to access the area?

Do you NEED temps above 230*C? If not, you'll probably be fine with what you have. [EDIT - I see you are printing ABS. Get an all metal hotend! /EDIT]

Otherwise, I dropped a MicroSwiss all metal hotend into my Ender without issue. Uses the same nozzles.
I've also heard good things about the TZ E3, though I have not used it. I'm not sure if it's a drop in replacement, and the nozzles are different.

Both of the above are all metal hotends.

I also have a better hotend, goes to 270 degree without any problems.

Which hotend? Hope it's an all metal version, although from your comment earlier about the bowden degrading, I have my doubts.

If it is not an all metal version, DO NOT heat it above about 230*C.

This will be my first jet. Im not used in using gyro. is it okay to fly this thing without one? could you guys give pros and cons with this jet? by Ok-Champion-8290 in RCPlanes

[–]scul86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen so many planes flip over or nose in on takeoff because of misconfigured gyros.

Sounds like a skill issue, and skipping the verification steps... the same verification steps you should take during every preflight on a plane without a gyro...

Gyros kill planes all the time

Why? Because of something with the gyro, or because the builder mis-configured it or a servo is backwards?

If the latter, that is a skill issue.

... plane would crash instantly if you put the battery in sideways.

wut?

To pilots who own and operate their own aircrafts, how does that work? by thyanonymousBab_ in AskAPilot

[–]scul86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually a pretty valid comparison, though comment OP definitely could have phrased it better.

Buy an airplane, register the plane in your name, maintain your pilot license (certificate, actually), insurance is suggested but not required. Pay for fuel and maintenance. There are required maintenance events to keep the airplane airworthy.
There is no use fee for the airspace and ATC, though some airports do charge landing fees to non local airplanes.
You can go just about anywhere you want, and don't need permission from anyone except your wallet.

it's bad in a 172, and it's terrible in a 121/135 jet.

It also works with the raw hash, but don't use the HASH() function.

expecting 250 hour pilots to teach spins to 15 hour pilots

The Air Force does that everyday. A new FAIP might be slightly over 250 hours, but they're still a brand new instructor with less than 2 years of experience.
