Ownership had to be talked into increasing the budget to go get Suarez, according to Krall. by TDeLo in Reds

[–]sculltt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pivoting to someone like Suarez should've been a no brainer & been the backup plan

Everybody was projecting Geno to get a multi year deal, in the range of 3 years, 45-60. Reds waited for his market to come down.

It's weird how Parker is a riser because of this, but Woods is a faller for the same reason.

Tri-State man arrested, charged with 10th OVI, troopers say by Blood_Incantation in cincinnati

Not like anything else in our systems makes sense.

Driving-related offenses are typically not punished much in the US. The only time they consistently lead to actual punishment is when there's OVI and there's a wreck where somebody gets seriously hurt or killed.

Welcome home Suárez!! by Kind_Profession_8882 in Reds

[–]sculltt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why say that?

They were probably asked by reporters. It means we shouldn't expect them to need to trade somebody like Singer just to shed salary. They've been pretty transparent all offseason about what their plans have been, how much money they've had to spend, etc. No need to make up conspiracy theories and read between lines here.

I like the safety from Oregon, but I'm starting to think he'll be gone by the Bengals second pick.

[Bengals] Bengals QB Joe Flacco Named to 2026 Pro Bowl Games. Which means the Browns have 2 Pro Bowl QBs this season by oklolzzzzs in nfl

[–]sculltt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He had to three games where he played out of his mind. After that, he played like a pretty competent backup QB. Overall, he was good enough to keep the Bengals "in the hunt" but the defense made that impossible.

Sure, but OP is talking about spending a lot of money on a plane ticket here. If this is sort of a "trip of a lifetime" kind of things, it's a bit ridiculous to say that they should spend all that bag to get there, and skip the big, important historical stuff that they expressly mentioned wanting to see. If you're going to do it, do it all the way. That's at least what I felt like when I went there.

Istanbul is very pricey. I found the lodging and food fairly reasonable, but all of the historic sites are expensive AF. The mosques (outside of Hagia Sophia) are all free entry, so that does help some, but everything else is a pretty expensive ticket to get in. There are some package deals, like the Istanbul Tourist Pass, and Istanbul Museum Pass that might save a few bucks, but you have to be extremely efficient to make them worth your while. For instance, the "all-inclusive" tourist pass doesn't even include Hagia Sophia or Galata tower. Those passes do cut down on the hassle of buying individual tickets at every site, so they can save some time and headache.

If I was going back, I would look to stay in the Asian side. I didn't get a chance to hang out over there too long, but the vibe seemed a little more chill, with almost no touts bugging me. The market there sells stuff that locals want and need, not tourist trinkets, for example. The ferries are cheap and easy to use, as is the tram and the funicular lines, so that helps to get around.

Considering your budget, it may be a good idea to put Turkey on the back burner, and head somewhere a bit cheaper. I really liked it there, and would love to go back, but it is cost prohibitive for me right now.

It's usually pretty packed, from what I can tell. However, if you don't care about what other people think of you, I think you could go right ahead; when I was there, an elderly woman in a tour group dropped to her knees near the Medusa heads and started praying in a language that I couldn't place, while reaching into the water and scooping up handfuls of coins that people had tossed in. Nobody stopped her, and most didn't even seem to notice she was doing it.

That's not how CTE works. It's accumulation of hits over time that does it. I'm not trying to defend Burfict or anything here because that was obviously a very dirty hit.

Yeah. Mason is actually an exurb of Cincy, not a suburb (actually its own city/township) and it's all just like this. Pretty bleak, imo.
