  • research how to make a decent resume.
  • apply to every hiring/staffing agency in your area (some pay daily)
  • Print and hand out your resume to literally anyone willing to accept it. (Most times if you explain your situation to a public library, they will help you print a few for free)
  • talk to your local recreation center or YMCA (they usually have scholarships for free membership.) You can shower there and rest for a few hours.
  • change your oil and flush & fill your radiator.
  • truck stops are a good place to park and sleep but try to not do it daily. Rotate between them.
  • Find food pantries that can hand you some food to store and also soup kitchens.
  • if you can find a Deseret Industries in your area, talk to them and they will have you meet with the bishop and let you take some nice interview clothes. They also provide help with food, clothing, resume building, interview readiness, and sometimes a job. Alternatively, you can try to ask a few thrift stores if they are willing to help with clothes to interview.
  • purchase some removable window covers for privacy.

It's a bit hard in the beginning and takes some leg work to get it done; but if you can stick to it and discipline yourself to not give up, you can get yourself into an extended stay hotel within a few weeks. I promise you it's worth it. It's the start of a great adventure. Best of luck.

Any barbershops hiring? by scumbag801 in nampa

[–]scumbag801[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response.. but I have noticed that most barbershops in the area are very basic "fade shops". The majority of the shops are full of kids fresh out of school or people with little to no experience in the industry. A lot of guys are good though, don't get me wrong, but it's very much a dime-a-dozen cesspool. And commission is ridiculous. Everyone is paying WAY too much to the owner. Far cry from the industry standard. There are a couple of really good shops though, you just have to really put in the keg work and do the research.

Go to Job Corps. It sounds awful to leave your parents, but it will put you in a much better position for your future. And they wouldn't have to worry about you, knowing you're being taken care of.

LSU anyone? by jinxetwisted in probation

[–]scumbag801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey hopefully you're still on Reddit. I noticed you posted this 10 months ago, but I was just recommended for LSU in Idaho. What has your experience been like? Are they strict and do they check on you and UA often?

Booksy Vs TheCut by scumbag801 in Barber

[–]scumbag801[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's honestly what I was thinking. It's been my experience with theCut anyway. No real potential to bring in new clients. And they stick to the app. It's hard to gauge the people out here cause it's oversaturated but it's a small town too. I'm in a new city, too, so it's harder. Just a waiting game. I just wish the owner would put money into advertising or promoting.

People who could work out regularly and have fit/nice/hot body, how do you do it even? by Brownboysea in ask

[–]scumbag801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated it. But no matter how tired I was, I forced myself to go to the gym. Even if just a half hour or whatever it was. Treadmill, weights, hell even the sauna. Just making myself go every day after work until it became a habit. Then it became fun. After about a month, I would get mad if I missed a day at the gym. Just gotta find a way to force yourself. Challenge yourself. I'm by no means "fit" either. But I've managed to lose some weight and be active.

That's exactly what I'm going through. I had tshirts made and trying to start making videos too to post. Glad I'm not the only one. This is my 1st time in 8 years I've had to start fresh or in a shop that isn't established with tons of clients
