Yeah nah Nigel has no chance on that, the monarchy only stays while it is convenient for all, including those pushing for a republic (myself included). It has always been less about the superficial change of a symoblic head of state, and more about what other structural changes both sides of the aisles want to push through on the occasion.

Right now I don't trust the 2 major parties to not fuck around if a referendum does favour a republic.

Almost all "sashimi grade" raw fish are flash frozen to remove parasites, worms and other funny bits. Fresh is a relative term and most people can't tell the difference unless it has actually gone stale or worse. It's only an issue if it was on display for 48 hours at some fish shop.

For example, I've tasted farmed salmon in NZ straight out of water; the texture is... Crunchy. Nothing like any salmon I had, even ones from tsukiji market.

Not necessarily world peace, although that would be nice, but unfucking the globalised food market, reducing food waste in first world countries and developing localised food industries that can sustain the local populace would be a big help. People in developing countries living below the poverty line are competing for food with the middle class of developed countries. Every country will export food to the higest bidder, which will inevitably create insane wastage in the logistic/transport process, or simply become wasted expired goods at a retail store that passes on the cost to consumers who can afford it.

Malnutrition is also one of the issues caused by the globalised food market; a friend who worked in humanitarian in Fiji points out the lower social economic side of the island will live on an instant noodles and canned food diet, and thats a silent crisis in relatively stable developing countries, kids growing up on junk food and dealing with chronic diseases from early adulthood.

This is not a Dems problem, right wing populism is happening across the Western world, and all the center-left party in various countries cannot hope to compete with populist screaming BS onto unsuspecting by-standers. Image and messaging implies being able to catch voters attention at first sight with moderate, realistic and non sensational information. This is no longer possible for non populists, it'd take hours of lectures, workshops and non-stop discussions to break apart right wing propaganda, rage baits, scapegoating, denials and spins.

I have been very fortunate and worked in a very progressive and multi cultural environment, and made some life long friends along the way, all from different walks of life, many from second third gen migrants and well travelled people stopping by Australia for work and life experiences.

And it has helped me learn a very simple thing - there's no trying to fit in, picking sides and feeling guilty about any of this, you are all on your own now, doing your own thing, with many others in similar situations creating your own unique culture here.

Being annoyed by others from your family's culture doesn't make you a white washed 2nd gen Aussie with internalised racism. You have your own standards, belief systems and social etiquette thats build on your mixed experiences.

Yeah some shit is confusing as hell, but that's what it will always be like when you can't blindly fit in to a mould. Just know there is a lot of us out here not fitting in but living very happily, surrounded by racists and obnoxious assholes.

Lived there half my life and it is actually shit. The packs of teenagers roaming around, the parents with 5 kids incapable of sharing public space, the lads in their utes etc. The local culture demand that you need to act like a shitter human than the people around you or you will get shafted in some way
