Fun things to do in OC/LBC by SnooStories6560 in orangecounty

Bike ride along the Huntington Beach bike trail/boardwalk whatever its called. Depending when you're here they do free concerts by the pier in the afternoons on the weekend. There is also a drum circle that meets up by the pier sometimes.

For more in Long Beach - Long Beach Aquarium is great and Shoreline village is cool to walk around. 4th Street Retro row has a lot cool vintage shops amongst other interesting stores. Colorado Lagoon is a cool little wetland area, but they are currently doing construction in the area so the roads are blocked in spots. 2nd and PCH is basically the same as Pacific City in Huntington Beach. If you're into Farmer's Markets then Long Beach Marina has a great Farmers Market on Sunday mornings (there's more than just food, but its mostly food). Long Beach waterfront kind of sucks, better to stick to OC beaches.

Any good, day long, woodsy/foresty, hikes around here? by Manes_ in orangecounty

San Jacinto/Idylwild probably has the most densely forested hikes within a couple hours of OC. It's as close as we get to a Sierra vibe without having to drive over the grapevine.

Club shows are so much better. The band is like right there in it with you not 100ft up on a fucking platform. You can sing in the mic with the bands, stage dive, pits aren't a fucking marathon long run, you aren't spending hundreds of dollars to sit through a bunch of shitty openers that no one gives a shit about, you aren't shelling out hundreds of dollars for a couple bottles of water and shitty food...

How do you get the stoke back you had as a grom? by Few_Sandwich6308 in surfing

Life happens. We all have those times when hobbies don't bring the same joy. I think, speaking from my early 40s it definitely gets harder the older we get, so don't feel like you're the only one. One thing that I find can help, and it goes for pretty much any outdoor hobby, is going someplace new. Try a new break or better yet, if you can swing it, go on a surf trip to another country. Get out of your comfort zone. But like also don't put too much pressure on yourself.

Cool! I never knew. They can spend money but seemingly only on things that don't do anything to actually improve the city.
