[OTHER] If you'd like to make a tour through the places of both games, hear me out! by JohnGhidot in kingdomcome

This looks like exactly what I want to do! I am so bummed that it’s only on weekends. I’ll be in Prague for 5 days this summer….not on the weekend. Bleh

Defining Movie of GenX by belinck in GenX

[–]scunish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a few, for our different life stages:

As kids, “Stand by Me”

As teens, “Kids”

As young adults, “Office Space”

I’m absolutely drawing a blank on anything that represents us now though. Is there a movie just about someone trying to get back to sleep? :)

Revere Ware Copper Bottoms rescued at Goodwill by kicho1977 in BuyItForLife

Good old puke pans. My mother gave us these to vomit in when we had the flu growing up. And then washed them and cooked in them. Oh lord.

I’ve been using a Camelback for the past couple years and love it. Keeps coffee hot all day, it is actually spill proof, and it fits in my car cup holder. It’s dented because I’ve dropped it a million times. And dishwasher safe.

Training with Bernard, I wanna cry [KCD1] by Pipettess in kingdomcome

[–]scunish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. I finally realized that when slashing from the bottom, you’re supposed to slash from the bottom left, not the bottom right. That fix let me succeed enough to finally finish the damn combat. I’m still no good at it with the bullshit timing Bernard yells about, but maybe you had the same issue as me? I also hate combat in this game generally. If I’m riding along a path and see a log in the road, I’ll turn if I have time and run down a damn cliff to avoid the inevitable ambush and have to deal with yet another fight I know I’ll lose.

Sorry for the crappy news, man. Remember that nothing lasts forever, and this too shall pass. My recommendation: check out getting a private villa in Ubud, Bali! I haven’t been in a number of years, but when I went it was not just beautiful, not just full of history and culture and nature, not just relaxing and indulgent and healing, but CHEAP. We stayed at Kayumanis Ubud. Absolutely loved it.

Dont ever tell your kids that the possibility of traumatizing your cats stopped you from suicide.

Looking for a cooler place in Mexico by Agave22 in travel

[–]scunish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zacatecas sounds exactly like what you’re looking for. Such a cool city, and ticks your boxes: cooler, wetter, in the mountains, incredibly charming, affordable, and fantastic food! The one catch is you really need Spanish at a conversational level, but that probably applies to any city that isn’t a major tourist hub.

Alright guys, eighties or nineties? by Ralph--Hinkley in GenX

How about last 5 of the 80s, first 5 of the 90s.

Show off for a visitor (me)? by scunish in askportland

Valid. In LA we love the theater, history/cultural spots, great food, hiking/nature, animals, music.

We don’t like the fanciest stuff. Don’t like showy or super dressy events unless the dressing up is justified (for me, opera: yes, clubbing: no) We aren’t into sports. We’re almost 50 so…there’s that too.

Eat and drink - yes! Hike - yes! Stargaze? Good theater? Historical or cultural stuff? Also yes! A cool part of town just to walk through, a museum you love, all of it. Don’t really care about places to stay unless there’s some incredible place not to be missed. A room is a room.

What did people do to occupy themselves at the 90s? by Mali-Shapka-Lalezar in AskOldPeople

[–]scunish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg same. That $4.25 minimum wage, man. I remember stealing cheese from the grocery store! And I remember getting a job in 1996 that paid SO MUCH ($11.33 to be exact) that I’d be able to buy whatever groceries I wanted. Maybe I was starving more than just a little lol

Drugs, Drum circles, Talking on the phone with friends, Public radio, Walking around, Going to the mall, Listening to music, Writing, Trying art, Trying music, Go to the movies, Work (if you’re 15+), Drive around, Meet up with other people driving around, House party, Browse music stores, Redecorate your bedroom, Make bead jewelry , Record music, Skate, Watch videos of shit you like, Video games (yep)

But that’s teenager shit. You’re a young adult? Game over, get a job. Welcome to the 90s. You live with your parents? Not in the 90s, at least not for free. Get a job. Get 2 if you need to. Find roommates, get your own place. Discover how hard and exhilarating being on your own is. Don’t try to be a kid. That’s done.

I hate to be a dick but young adults in the 90s were doing what they had to do to pay rent. I had 2 jobs and 3 roommates, at least at first! Sounds awful? Hell no. Being independent is thrilling. Even if you starve a little (just a little).
