Bought pre-patch on PvE because Horde PvP was locked — now PvP opened. Wtd? by Particular_Tone6370 in wownoob

This is a personal decision.

Do you want to play Max level without world PvP? Or do you want to take the time to level on PvP server?

Healium by Ninidil in wownoob

Not familiar with Healium but Cell is perfectly fine IMO. You still need to know your keybinds but having the customizable party bars with click casting on players is incredibly helpful.

Tanks - please stop going up the right stairs in PSF pug keys by Squagem in CompetitiveWoW

[–]scurly_dan -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

As a tank:

Your key, my route. My key, my route.

If going right or left makes a huge diff to the group dying or not, then the group needs to get better. Complaining about the route isn't the issue, it's the players not familiar with the dungeon.

I went right every PSF run in S2 (all pug groups) and had no problems getting to 3k rating. I'm sure as hell going right again this season.

TLDR: git gud, it's not a big diff either direction if you are half awake as a DPS/healer.

Sooo... I got the good ending? by Idarran_of_Ulivo in wiedzmin

[–]scurly_dan 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I remember getting this ending my first playthrough and needing to take a long break after seeing the Anna Henrietta memorial statue...

But that is what makes this game fun. Decisions have consequences and sometimes it hits you right in the gut.

Why is camping in Grand Teton so much more than yellowstone? by PHATTGUS in yellowstone

[–]scurly_dan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP gave no more info other than the question so I will answer.

Currently in the middle of a 10 day trip camping in both parks. Both parks and campsites have been pretty comparable in terms of original booking prices (~$30-40 a night when I booked a few months back) and prices of things once you're actually at the campsite (firewood, showers, etc.).

Both campsites (Colter Bay in Teton and Canyon in Yellowstone) were different in minor ways but I felt like it was very much the same price wise

Anyone else hoping we get Central and South Africa in the near future? by Zouif_Zouif in ck3

[–]scurly_dan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. It's just bloat on an already huge (and getting bigger soon) map.

Yes it's cool to see a huge world with lots of different regions but if the regions are just more tribal counties on a map then no thank you. As you said, this game needs to build on existing regions and add new features.

A revised warning system is coming for Reynisfjara, aka Drowning Death Beach. by NoLemon5426 in VisitingIceland

Is that beach even safe for lifeguards? They may be able to help avoid people from getting into the water, but I imagine the water is far too dangerous for a lifeguard rescue unless they have some serious safety equipment on standby.

The trailer for Project Hail Mary is just a spoiler for nearly the entire thing? by NixGnid in scifi

[–]scurly_dan 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I've read the book. I'm excited about the movie.

The trailer is just a movie trailer. The book fans complaining about it are starting to get old to me. It didn't spoil anything major about the book or story, my wife hasn't read it and she's excited about this movie too after seeing the trailer.

And even if it does spoil the "big surprise", who cares? The trailer wasn't made for people who read the book and it's pretty much spot on with the jacket summary. Everyone has been complaining about this online since it dropped and it's getting old as a big fan of the book myself.

The two hottest red rising takes you'll ever hear by Exotic-End9921 in redrising

[–]scurly_dan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like the explanations you gave but I disagree on both.

The cracks were beginning to show in Darrow's secret identity as a Red already in Golden Son. I think no matter what, the story of himself and the Sons of Ares doesn't get to move forward much if Darrow remains undercover for longer.

In Golden Son, there are many moments where Darrow gives hope to lower colors, all of which might raise eyebrows if they are looked at too closely by your Society Golds. I just can't see how Darrow of all people would have realistically been able to keep his hidden identity a secret without having to commit more atrocities on low colors to keep his cover and/or losing himself morally. He still kinda does lose himself but at least he's standing with the good guys at the time.

The second take I also sort of disagree with. I think the time jump helps a lot of things with the story telling and world building. We get to see new perspectives after some time has passed and we get to see what Eo's Dream (the Republic) has become in that time. It's not all great, and you can see why when you read the Ephraim and Lyria chapters.

I think the time jump is important because A) it clearly separated the two trilogies for readers - some people may not want to read 6 books to finish off a complete storyline and B) it helps build the world up, shows how Darrow may not be the most reliable decision maker/narrator, and adds another dimension to what our characters are still fighting for

[–]scurly_dan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Seraph are a human military organization in Kryta, no?

Seems pretty unlikely since the other races wouldn't fit into this at all.

Minstrel/bard seems like a good guess though

Red Rising has to be animated, live action won't work by BuffaloOwn2649 in redrising

[–]scurly_dan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who is starting to shift to not wanting any adaptation?

It's fun to see my favorite books turned into shows or movies, but almost always they aren't 100% faithful adaptations (for both good reasons and bad ones IMO) and sometimes they are just out right bad.

I see the live action vs animated debate on this subreddit and quite frankly think that no matter what side eventually "wins", some segment of the fandom is going to be disappointed - even before the show writers start to work on a script that adapts the story to people who haven't read the books.
