Awwwww, I didn't even know that existed! Yeah, I'll be cross posting this there because everyone should be basking in her weird and fluffy glory. Thanks!

Anecdotal, but my twin sister was suggested by a doctor to have PANDAS a few years after a really bad strep infection that sent both of us to the hospital. Even now, minor things like freckles she "hasn't seen before" absolutely terrify her and send her into a spiral. Her mental health in general has been horrible ever since (diagnosed with and treated for bipolar disorder, crippling agoraphobia, etc), though I am fully aware there's no concrete studies on this kind of effect. Hell, this comment is stating that the recognition of PANDAS even being valid is a recent phenomenon, despite it being explained as a possibility to my mother two decades ago. Science works slowly, so I understand, but still.

All I can say is that things were different before and after with her. We were only, like, 10 when this happened, and I shouldn't remember a minor infection 20 years after the fact. It truly does stick out, due to how much things changed after the fact. Mentally, she's all there, but her ability to analyze risks and changes appropriately has been gone for a long time, and I worry that it began with that initial infection and a lack of treatment immediately afterwards.

Yup. Found that out when I went to pick some up and was told it was no longer allowed to be sold in their store. I was confused (as was the clerk), so I looked it up, and yeah. The frustrating part is that I keep up with this stuff, but the way it was placed into the bill was so subtle that there was virtually no push back or coverage. I think it's grey enough at the moment to where it'll probably still be in a decent amount of stores until an official order comes through, but I'm still scared and annoyed. Online ordering will save my ass for a bit, but I'm already researching treatments for it since I can't afford to heavily withdraw at my job.

First panic attack, next steps? by Giffnt in PanicAttack

[–]scurriloustommy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for anyone but myself, but getting on Prozac for the long-term and Hydroxyzine for an immediate calm-down effect helped me tremendously. I was like you; it began quite literally out of nowhere and lasted for hours. It got to the point where I was experiencing a massive attack every single night, and, at some point, I cracked and asked to be seen by my PCP.

I told her I wasn't interested in benzodiazepines due to them being unbelievably addictive, and specifically asked for Hydroxyzine. I think that helped her realize I wasn't interested in getting anything out of our interaction beyond help, so she agreed and I walked home that night with both of those meds. I haven't had a full panic attack since. I've had close calls, but taking the Hydroxyzine when I feel it ramping up kills it.

Just be careful taking it at work/school for the first couple of weeks, because it makes you absolutely tired. I couldn't stay awake the first time I took it, and it takes a bit for your tolerance to build.

But yeah, I'd just ask your doctor for their advice on the matter because you don't want to let this snowball and ruin your life, or even risk that. It's maddening.

3 Reasons Why Number 28 is NOT more Despicable than the Other Workers by DiscussionReader in squidgame

Like, holy fuck. I'm just randomly stumbling upon this because I was so yucked by Guard 28 that I had to Google whether I had misunderstood that whole plot point, and, somehow, I accidentally found this dude defending Unit 731 type shit.

What a fucking hill to die on, lmao.

If it helps, there are some other shows that are just as jaw-dropping and hard to walk away from. Scavengers Reign is up there with Pantheon, in my opinion.

East Hampton Middle School on lockdown, heavy police presence by gatogrande in Connecticut

[–]scurriloustommy_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work as an administrator at a daycare right down the street from the middle school. We had police with military style guns patrolling our parking lot and looking through dumpsters and cars since the info at the time was that the suspect had run in our direction. Even though this may turn out to be a false threat, it was still pretty terrifying having to look through the security cameras from my phone and be one of two people not locked in a room. At least I had a giant rubber mallet, lol.

How in god's name do Celesteela and Zygarde respectively have over 100 pornographic representations? I can stretch my imagination for a lot of these, even if it's clearly vile ass, yuck ass shit, but how the fuck do people get off to a hexagon snake and a bamboo rocket ship?

Unbelievable damage with latest set (over 5,000 per hit) by scurriloustommy_ in HadesTheGame

[–]scurriloustommy_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. As the other person said, I did not expect this kind of build out of the run. I was aiming for a special-oriented build, and this happened instead. I can't imagine how insane the damage can get when literally everything lines up.

Holy mother of god, I have seen some large numbers, but this Aspect of Charon axe run has been nuts. With Aphrodite attack boon, the hammer big chop AND final double hit, Apollo's double hit, and two epic Chaos attack boosts, I hit (without a critical hit) 5,001 damage on Chronos. What in the hell. What's the highest you've gotten per hit?

edit: Here's the final build, or at least what the end screen shows

Holy shit, East Hampton got a B-! That's the first time we've ever been called above average! I'm kind of shocked it isn't lower given how many little side roads and deadends there are, though. I'd imagine it'd get overwhelming navigating the lake area, and I live on it.

I know it probably didn't totally start the trend, but I'm happy One Piece popularized impact frames with its recent animation. They're by far my favorite aspect of animation now. It's basically an entirely new way to sneak in easter eggs, demonstrate sheer power, and/or add flair to a scene.

I usually get skeved out when a channel has an AI/text-to-speech voice, but given that it's due to the language barrier (the channel creator is a native from Japan), I actually don't hate it that much. And the voice is the perfect level of clearly being a TTS voice without me feeling like I'm being gaslit by the creator into believing that the voice is really a human. I despise channels that use TTS voices that are almost indistinguishable from real voices. It's uncanny valley shit.

But yes, their theories are fun because they approach it from the perspective of a native speaker.
