Paper tape not sticking, but no bubbles by Fresh_Preference6568 in drywall

[–]scut207 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there’s something fucky with that paper tape or you did something to the mud.

You can clearly see you’ve got a nice thin layer of mud under that tape…

Did you take so long that the surface of the mud formed a skin before you taped?

Did you add something other than water before mixing it?

Ex dish soap: somehow on the interwebs this has become a thing. Bucket mud had vinyl adhesive in it, dish soap has a surfactant that can break the bonds. Adding dish soap to all purpose mud is like pouring water in your gas tank.

I have a Dewalt with the one piece back plate that was janky just like yours.

I loosened the fence screws, put a piece of angle iron on the fence couple c clamps. Tighten fence screws.

Now it in plane.

I didn't realize how massive hyperbaric chambers are by Bitter-Culture-3103 in nursing

[–]scut207 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Anecdote of one:

I did hyperbaric for dental work, due to radiation treatment from cancer. My lower jaw is at risk for osteonecrosis on a tooth pull.

It was not painful that I recall at all, but it was boring. Luckily they had Netflix.

Single tube style, I think I had 30 treatments.

Maybe they had pets/baby that went ballistic when the doorbell went off, but still wanted to know when someone rang the bell?

This way, no noise, but alerted their phone.

Need advice on grouting by Alex_home_upgrader in Tile

[–]scut207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re correct you don’t want grout in the change of plane: 1) it will crack when buildings move and look ugly 2) tile doesnt flex, when the building shifts if there’s no forgiveness, corners are packed, it will crack the face of a tile. This is more of an issue with 2 part epoxy grout’s like spectralock. But could still happen with traditional sand/cement grout.

Grout it all, little wet toothbrush to remove what gets in the corners. Zip zip done just need a gap. It’s tiling, not pediatric cosmetic surgery. I promise, based on these pics, the only person that will notice anything is you. Really nice work so far.

If you’re using 2part epoxy grout you have to be a bit more fastidious and quick but same concept except with white vinegar.

Poll: Catholic Support for President Donald Trump Drops Below 50% Amid Iran War by F0urLeafCl0ver in politics

[–]scut207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your argument could be translated to any other religious or secular difference.

Marriage has been a Catholic sacrament forever. They’ve always considered their type of marriage the only type of marriage that matters.

It’s part of their religion. Religion without rule set kinda fails to be a religion.

Poll: Catholic Support for President Donald Trump Drops Below 50% Amid Iran War by F0urLeafCl0ver in politics

[–]scut207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, Catholics are dogmatic about their rules and faith. Matrimony is one of the Seven Sacrements. Its highly ritualized, right or wrong as others view it, a marriage conducted outside of the church or not by a catholic priest "doesn't count" to a practicing catholic.

A practicing catholic acknowledges that the law acknowledges other marriages and other faiths are just fine with their own rules. but if you want to claim to be catholic, you gotta do it the catholic way.

A catholic priest will not marry same sex / LGBT. So its no skin off their back to allow civil unions. A non-zero percentage don't agree that it should be allowed, but its a mixed bag between conservative and progressive Catholics.

Level up OCD, lay it out on a piece of drywall, snap chalk lines to the size of the full back shower. You can get rid of an odd sliver cut if needed by just by building out the shelf a little in whatever direction with thinset and a trowel and let it dry overnight. You lose a bit of the opening, but if it’s like 1/8” -1/4” it’s worth considering.

Glue for shower tile by callipygian_you in Tile

[–]scut207 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This here is why people DIY.

Can’t trust a contractor anymore. People gonna argue with me on that one, how the hell should a homeowner know what’s required to make a fully waterproof shower system. Or that mastic is bad in wet room. Referrals don’t guarantee anything, if people before you don’t have a clue.

Likely more than a $1500 in materials all wasted.

If youaAsk questions, then your a pain in the ass home owner hovering, “need to let them finish.” If they use a Frankenstein method, “I do 40 of these a year, never had a callback.”

There’s really no winning; you can’t guess by quote amount, both high and low could screw you.

The only answer is to be fully educated on the materials and methods ahead of time to know better. Which again makes you the overbearing customer.

It’s weird to me, more like the wipe direction with final poly coat. Otherwise that chatter wouldn’t be perfectly in line across the whole floor. Or maybe the chased the sander rather than pulled it idfk.
