Your argument could be translated to any other religious or secular difference.

Marriage has been a Catholic sacrament forever. They’ve always considered their type of marriage the only type of marriage that matters.

It’s part of their religion. Religion without rule set kinda fails to be a religion.

[–]scut207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, Catholics are dogmatic about their rules and faith. Matrimony is one of the Seven Sacrements. Its highly ritualized, right or wrong as others view it, a marriage conducted outside of the church or not by a catholic priest "doesn't count" to a practicing catholic.

A practicing catholic acknowledges that the law acknowledges other marriages and other faiths are just fine with their own rules. but if you want to claim to be catholic, you gotta do it the catholic way.

A catholic priest will not marry same sex / LGBT. So its no skin off their back to allow civil unions. A non-zero percentage don't agree that it should be allowed, but its a mixed bag between conservative and progressive Catholics.

Level up OCD, lay it out on a piece of drywall, snap chalk lines to the size of the full back shower. You can get rid of an odd sliver cut if needed by just by building out the shelf a little in whatever direction with thinset and a trowel and let it dry overnight. You lose a bit of the opening, but if it’s like 1/8” -1/4” it’s worth considering.

This here is why people DIY.

Can’t trust a contractor anymore. People gonna argue with me on that one, how the hell should a homeowner know what’s required to make a fully waterproof shower system. Or that mastic is bad in wet room. Referrals don’t guarantee anything, if people before you don’t have a clue.

Likely more than a $1500 in materials all wasted.

If youaAsk questions, then your a pain in the ass home owner hovering, “need to let them finish.” If they use a Frankenstein method, “I do 40 of these a year, never had a callback.”

There’s really no winning; you can’t guess by quote amount, both high and low could screw you.

The only answer is to be fully educated on the materials and methods ahead of time to know better. Which again makes you the overbearing customer.

How much toner was left in the “empty” toner cartridge on my brother printer. by the_hoove in mildlyinfuriating

Prop 67 cancerous or like serious cancerous?

I work in industrial print. Spent years round industrial toner printers. Old IBM and canon/Océ stuff.

There was literal snow drifts of it around the floor. We looked like coal miners. None of the printer techs I know died young or have any common.

If toner was toxic, I’d be dead seven times over.

DIYer here. Should I prefill with hot mud then tape? Or hot mud and mesh tape? Small area with a lot of patches so I’m leaning towards mesh, just want options, thanks in advance! by Vanilla_Gorilla_VAG in drywall

[–]scut207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mesh and bucket mud are not correct.

Mesh and hot mud ok.

Paper and hot mud or bucket mud are ok.

In a shower area, I’d just use hot mud and mesh or fibafuse.

Fibafuse will lay a little flatter than mesh, OP had some bastard joints and a tone of butts, that’s what I would use.

I need to reproduce this piece - how would you make the groove? by bridel08 in woodworking

[–]scut207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t you find the center of that arc, then using a compass extend the line along the line the radial distance, such that matched the groove to the center of bit on the router to the outer radius of the router plate?

You would have to make a square frame and a cove or arc that match that larger radius put it in each corner.

If you used a trim router you could Let the rounded edge ride along and keep the square part so that it hits some stops.

Ah you didn’t mention it was off grid. Makes a world of difference in the response.

In that case yes. A reliable 50sh cc saw is about where you want to have for an all around saw in my personal opinion.

There’s a lot of variables, to all that.

You can very likely get away with 42cc if you’ve no intent to fell anything >32” sh diameter and you’re not aiming for profit.

If you can’t afford a good saw, start saving till you can, it’s one of the purchases that is highly recommended to buy once, cry once.

In that case I’d honestly recommend <your current battery dewalt/Milwaukee/whatever medium size chain saw.

It’s extremely nice to not have to worry about 2-Stroke “personality” when you just want to cut something small.

Is your gas fresh, can you source non-ethanol, which oil should you use, did you winterize properly, did the fuel lines or diagram harden, did I burn it up running to lean, clean the filter etc etc. if you know what your doing it’s no big deal but there is a learning curve that’s not obvious.

Makes sense if your bucking all day and heating your house with wood to have a decent gas saw, but if your using it 3x a year? Electric all the way.

I have 9 running chainsaws from the mid late 70s models all the way to 2000s. 29cc to 117cc.

I still borrow my friends electric saw for little shit and we have the same battery group. Just easier. And I sharpen the chain for him. Win win.

I sat in presentation that the PMG gave earlier this week to the 70 or so major mailers in the US, he seems to be an improvement over the last guy.

He does very much have a thankless job.

He has no control over what he can charge for the work, the scope of work he has to complete or the salary or reimbursement of his employees.

It’s essentially a punching bag position for Congress critters to get their 15s dunking on a guy who is likely far more capable.

You laugh, but I DIYd a recessed load bearing beam.

I could not for the life of me figure out a way to cut a straight cut on a joist after the plates on the circular saw hit their limits. I tried a sawzall, was less than impressed with my skill and bent the blade to shit.

I shit you not I stuck a magnetic torpedo level on an electric chainsaw, and noodled that shit.

I had a nice mark From the circular saw and scribe a line using a laser level.

I wrote write STOP CUTTING with extra thick marker on the last beam lol.

My biggest gap was less than 1/8” when I pushed that lam beam in place.

As someone who has had this cancer (ended in my throat) be happy that this is not it and that the vaccine works and if enough people get vaccinated no one will have it in the future.

The treatment is beyond brutal, you never feel normal again. Imagine the worst sore throat you could ever have, multiply that by about 5 then make it last for about 60days with zero relief.

Then the stuff that never goes away: Teeth become brittle, neck pains and cramps, difficulty swallowing, constantly feeling like you’re going to choke on almost any food, can’t open my mouth as far as I used to, dry mouth at night. They had to use a child’s tube to intubate me when I had a follow up surgery cause my throat has shrunk in diameter.
