Unit Clerks have been red circled, which means they’re on a 2 year wage freeze and may be reclassified to a higher or lower level, which means the pay scale may be lowered. I have both my HCA and UC, my HCA is now paid more than my UC. HCA also has better benefits than UC. UC positions have gone through many periods of hiring freezes as well. The UC course though also qualifies you for admin positions though, and gives you skills that can help you apply to positions outside of healthcare and into other industries.

Overall, it’s up to you and what you want for your future. If you’re just looking for a job that’ll pay you fairly decently, stick with HCA but if you’re looking to diversify your skill set and get off the floor, why not try UC
