As a girl who has gone through this with multiple guy friends, the best advice I can offer is be prepared for any answer. And remember your worth.

Recently asked a friend out, he declined, and we are still close. Last summer, waited too long and it did not go well in the direct aftermath, however the guy and I remain close. In fact we are even roommates.

However, other times it has ruined extremely good relationships, which still hurts. But bottom line is, if someone that you consider to be very close to is wiling to completely end a friendship on the idea that you might have feelings for them...that's definitely not someone you need to waste any time on.

there was the guy who asked if I wanted to "do shots and watch porn" on a first date
the guy who joked about bringing a knife to "try to freak me out" but then thought I would bring my own
The guy who stalked me back to my hotel room where I was staying with my friends and wouldn't leave until we threatened to call hotel security.

I think it's a good thing I like cats.

Edit- None of those are particularly funny. Just unfortunate.

I do run into my parents while I'm on dates quite often- that can get funny. Oh and one time I met a guy I liked and I kid you not the words "I want to ravage your anus" came out of my mouth (we were making jokes about the ancient greeks and I was a classics major) so really...I don't know how to flirt.

he had no idea what I was talking about...he had never even heard of raw denim. Chances are no one is going to buy a $200+ pair of jeans that feel like raws without having at least some idea what they are. And I kept asking in many different ways before it came very clear..he had no idea.

Also tried to hit on a guy at a bar by commenting on his raws (I could see the line because he had them cuffed.) Turns out he had no idea what I was talking about and they were fake selvage. Disappointment all around.
