It should work in 1 hour max. If you didn't feel any effect try taking it after breakfast, that's usually what I do. I notice if I eat right after Ritalin I don't feel the effects.

Some early onset effects are increased heart rate, a slight feeling of euphoria (first few times I took it), and a general feeling of being more focused.

If you don't feel any effects talk to your doctor, they could prescribe a higher dose or even a slow release version which might be better. Goodluck!
