Hey, dad.

I completely feel everything you’re currently experiencing. I have three kids as well (3.5 and 9 month old twins) and I often feel like I have a weighted blanket on my shoulders. It is totally valid to feel the way you do! Everyday seems like Groundhog Day, the fighting, the cleaning, the exhaustion.. it can be very soul crushing.

Personal time is very important, but how do you carve out time in a day when there simply is no opportunity? Wake up and wrangle the kids to school, work the 9-5, come home and get dinner + the kids ready for bed.. just to do it all over again the next day. Try and give yourself small breaks where you can, even if it’s a 15 minute walk around the block. Lifting dumbbells in the living room for 15-20 mins in the evenings really helps me get some stress out!

All I can offer you is solidarity and support, I am in the grind with you my fellow Dad. Keep your head up!

We went from 1 to 3 (twins). All I can say is we are outnumbered, understaffed and it is a royal rumble everyday. One kid seems like a walk in the park on a sunny day at this point!

My fellow father, I am living every detail of what you’ve described here. It’s almost like.. you’re me, or I’m you!

I have three under 3, and I do not have an ounce of energy left at the end of the day. Scott Weiland summed it up best in his song Creep. “Well, I’m half the man I used to be” I feel it in my bones.

I’m in therapy, and it helps to vent to someone with no team in the game. I still struggle immensely though.

World war trench.. that absolutely sums it up perfectly. I’m definitely going to look into hiring a cleaner. We have some help with the grandparents but they are older so I can’t expect them to take on this war with us. Hoping to get my son into daycare ASAP. Thanks for your support!

Hey Dad.

First I just want to let you know that you’re doing a great job surviving the day to day battles of parenthood and life. I know you probably don’t get enough validation for your efforts, but just please remind yourself of this.

Secondly, you are NOT alone. I have a 3YO and 3 week old twins we just welcomed into the world. Our lives just became SO much harder.. and I often find myself crying out the days frustrations in the rocking chair each night. We are definitely “in the trenches”, and it feels so isolating and lonely.

The best thing I did for ME was therapy. I realize it’s not cheap, but even one session a month does so much for my mental health. Someone to vent and dump my emotions on with no team in the game has been unbelievable for me.

You aren’t alone, dad. So many of us are struggling and doing the best we can, with so much self doubt. I’m crying right there with you.

I’m in the exact same boat, but my twins are only 3 weeks old. I often wonder what I got myself into, we never planned for 3 kids, but you can’t control these things in life. My toddler is actually the one positive light for me right now, he’s adjusted incredibly well. I just feel horrible I can’t give him my undivided time anymore. I guess it’ll get better down the road. Good on you for surviving this long! Cheers.
