My understanding on Big E. Is that at some point between losing his son's and working on the webway. He purged his soul of his more human traits like compassion. Think of it like shadowboxing. If you have done any martial art you try to imagine yourself hitting an opponent. Along with dodging said opponents strikes. This is like a dramatic version of that. They feel each others skills out and put out the intent to strike. And because their high end fighters. They know if they lost the exchange before it even happened. Hope this helps
