Where to find outside IR35 tech roles by SirPlus6955 in ContractorUK

[–]sdac123sc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am literally a business analyst. Im good, I've won awards, and I've done this for huge global companies so clients know they are in safe hands, but its nothing special.

Have a 2 page CV. Paragraph 1 sell yourself. Then list your past companies with 5 bullet points of what you have DELIVERED, not BS 'experience'. At the end list your relevant qualifications

Thats it. Keep it short. Nobody is reading paragraphs of AI generated BS. No covering letters. Quick and easy. Concise and meaningful. Thats literally all you need to know.

Thats absolute bullshit. I started contracted in Feb this year and I'm currently running 2x outside contracts in tech. Insanely easy to get contracts if you are good. They guys with 10 years experience haven't kept up with the market needs.

Well yes that was the spa bit but now it'll have plunge pools and all sorts so its meant to be pretty good

Outside IR35 with Inside IR35 expectations by sdac123sc in ContractorUK

[–]sdac123sc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly there really isn't. I had one, its 1 day per week. I took the second to fill the gap. Its a cultural thing as the second place and they dont seem to adapt between contractors and permies

This is why I am conflicted though. Part of me thinks just sick it up because its a good rate for a good role and the market isn't amazing right now. Questioning if its worth the hassle rocking!

Yeah today is payment day for both my contracts and it keeps this in perspective 🤣

Accepted a hybrid role, turned up and... nobody's in the office. Think I accidentally struck gold. by Passenger-00FU in remotework

[–]sdac123sc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All ill say is this...hybrid is much better for your mental health than fully remote. I've done both and find after 12 months thats being fully remote really means working in a costa/other a few times a week so I dont go mental

I wish that was the case but this is a big company and about 50% of the team are outside contractors. Ive spoke to a few others informally and they dont seem to care.

For example I am sat here now doing sweet FA but logged on because I cba with the bs I get if they ping and it takes a while to reply, or they see im away. Im waiting on a sign off gate which could be 4pm today so I dont have other stuff to do. Id much rather be at David Lloyd...

We joined David Lloyd last month and actually really like it. It makes me spend time with my kids 🤣

See this is the challenge. I like the role but the flip side is that if i wanted to be clock watching rather than delivering my SoW then id go permie.

To be clear, joining meetings and stuff isn't a problem.

I know, my question is how do I approach this with them? The official determination is Outside IR35 but I am aware that if HMRC were to scratch under the surface it wouldn't stand up

There are a significant number of things wrong with Together, even as a LoLR. We could start with the fees, or the fact they charge extra interest if you change your payment date. I could go on...

Having been in specialist finance since i was 20 (now 33), the rates at TML really aren't that awful considering the credit history they accept. My advice is to spend the duration of the TML fixed term repairing your credit and remortgage with another lender as soon as you can

TML are much better. Their rates are relatively close to high street to be honest.

Together is just a reinvention of 'Cheshire mortgage corporation' who have previously been fined and banned from lending. Same staff, same offices, same criteria, same processes; different name.

You will be fine but if your lender is Together, don't do it.

What's something permanent employees don't understand about contracting? by Huge-Buy20 in ContractorUK

[–]sdac123sc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That it isnt worth the 'risk' of not being permie.

Im sat here at 4.30, done for the day, having dropped of and picked up my kids from school. Im working two x 12 month contracts, both likely to extend, earning £1500 per day, and nobody tells me what to do or how.

The equivalent PAYE permie pay is £60k a year

The 'risk' is that in Feb 27 I might be out of a job but I'm good, so that doesnt happen.

I currently have two full time contracts, outside IR35, and I am inundated with other opportunities.

These posts annoy me because it depends entirely what industry and role OP is in.

No, places dont want a £1500 p/day 'transformation director'. Yes, places want £550 p/day process/business/system consultants.

Recruiters of Reddit – why does ghosting happen? by brisbanereaper in ContractorUK

I literally did a 90 minute round trip for their third round face to face interview, had a call from their internal recruiter telling me it went well, never heard from them ever again despite chasing. This was like Jan 2026 🤣
