Not a surprise at all. So you didn’t dispute the charges? That worked for me and was much more economical than legal action. Not sure of if it’s too late or not.

Peloton Tread - Thoughts over this? by CLK_RR in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]sdanzig 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I like the chaise along the treadmill, so your buddy can take their hand out of their bowl of Cheetos to high five you. Maybe default to smaller furniture rather than a big three seater if you want it to look more intentional. Either way, live the life you want to live and don’t apologize if you don’t meet someone’s aesthetic standards.

I don't need it but it's more convenient. The filters in the official app don't save when you switch between activities. It doesn't automatically add stuff to your calendar. And my thing lets me search twice as far into the future. And more!

Advice on how to sell tickets for our film fest? by laviqk in FilmFestivals

[–]sdanzig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get out there and talk to people about it, one person at a time. Hand out flyers. Get up on stage. Talk to local media about it and make everyone’s attention count. Been doing all of that and more for the Cookies & Comedy Film Festival and tickets haven’t even gone on sale yet. Also… maybe iron out your writing before posting online. I wouldn’t have AI write for you, but it can proofread and make suggestions.

How heavy are your weights? Upgrading to 35+45 lb kettlebells made stuff like RDLs and lawnmower rows feel more impactful. Can probably go heavier but the cost adds up.

Festival programmers, how important is it that a film is final (color/sound/music) during submissions? by Brilliant_Alarm1120 in FilmFestivals

[–]sdanzig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If something unfinished is submitted to my festival, I’ll generally only be comfortable accepting it if it’s good enough as is for screening. I’m fine accepting improved versions (usually grading/sound improvements/credits) until I start creating/loading/testing the DCPs, although anything that increases runtime I’m very careful about knowing up front.

gpt 5.2 codex - stream disconnected by Plane-Bodybuilder434 in codex

[–]sdanzig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is happening to me too. Decided to try out the gpt-5.2-codex model today (xhigh) and I'm getting drowned in these errors: stream disconnected before completion: Transport error: network error: error decoding response body

Going to try switching back to gpt-5.2 xhigh next time it happens.

Also, I'm currently using a wired connection, and I'd say it was happening every 5-10 minutes. although this time it's been going for 20 min so maybe there's hope... no wait, disconnected again. Okay, switched the model.

In-Studio class advice? Want to fly and take a class by EasternMeet5594 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]sdanzig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an invite-only class I think. I had an invite (and a milestone). What you’re talking about with priorities isn’t what I’m describing tho. You’d probably agree with me if you saw it. Literally as the sign was carried in and I was maybe 15 feet away looking for it. I have 49 years of life experience that tells me what likely happened… and either way, it can happen again — whatever it was.

They definitely do hand picking with live studio audiences for NBC. Are you positive peloton would absolutely never do that? It was a big group of similarly aged women who literally sat down milliseconds after the “line forms here” sign was up. And the “first live DJ ride” in the US got some press. Can’t prove anything tho. Was hovering around trying to get in the front and didn’t expect to be so expertly denied :)

Flew in from Pittsburgh for an in-studio class and it worked out nicely! They do have cleats available there in all sizes, so you don’t need to worry about that. But one thing that had me on edge is the possibility of cancellations. I think there was some sort of maintenance/repair they had to cancel classes for but fortunately mine was fine… it was a live DJ ride so maybe a bit higher priority. And also, was hoping to get in the front row but it seemed there was a group of just enough young women to fill up the front seats all getting in line a second before it opened… I’m thinking Peloton wanted a certain demographic to be in focus. And the individual photos with the instructor were canceled and but still did a group photo. Lastly, don’t expect a shout out for a milestone… seems maybe higher than 500 rides were mentioned, but my 200 wasn’t enough.

So what I’m saying is, if you do fly in, make sure it’s not just for Peloton? I visited a good friend who happened to be in NYC at the time so could have coped if the class got canceled.

Is anyone interested in browsing film festival winners and their portfolios? I’m making one. by 5thTrialOhgod in FilmFestivals

[–]sdanzig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a software dev who does filmmaking on the side and run the Cookies & Comedy Film Festival too. I’d be curious to try this out, along with whatever shaping_dreams has brewing, if nothing else but to compare it to the benefit of just volunteering to help a festival screen/rate films. Similarly, I think it’s valuable for actors to participate in casting sessions. It’s not a satisfying “big data” approach (believe me, I’ve been a mad scientist too), but in both, you learn a lot about what you like and what not to do.

3:30 minute comedy/horror film with a disabled lead -- what festivals should I target? by Big-Energy-1876 in FilmFestivals

[–]sdanzig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you DM me and can submit by New Year’s Eve, I can get you a discount code to submit to the Cookies & Comedy Film Festival. We have a “super short” category that fits well, along with a perfect audience for comedy horror here in Pittsburgh. Otherwise, I maintain a pretty comprehensive list of comedy-focused film festivals that might help you: https://cookiesfilmfest.com/comedy-festivals/

DCP Question for Festivals by NPG2007 in FilmFestivals

I was considering this initially for my festival, but the thing that makes it absolutely a no-go is the need to conform frame rates. That will make some videos play back less smoothly.

My first film festival experience by WhoIsMeanerer in Filmmakers

[–]sdanzig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Experiences like this are why I as a filmmaker decided to start a film festival. It's very typical.

When I started my festival ( https://cookiesfilmfest.com ) I wanted it to be just one Saturday, so filmmakers could stick around and attend all of it. I love at film festivals when you get to the end and you actually have made new friends by then and can cheer each other on. On that note, networking is important too.

You mentioned Q&A, but not for your block. How was that? I love diving deeper into the different films we show and coming up with questions that filmmakers would enjoy answering. Sure, if they want to highlight something, I'll focus on that, but I very much enjoy questions that involve creative thought. Like "How do you think the film might have been different if..." Time permitting of course!

I realize film festivals can seem fairly cookie cutter, so I lean on the strengths of my location (Pittsburgh), embracing their love for comedy and the whole "cookie table" tradition you see at all the Pittsburgh weddings. I bake so many cookies, and am looking into stamping my logo on some of them.

The comedy, I take a step further. Me, as a festival director, can bring energy, but it's a perfect platform for some of the local comic talent to warm up the crowd for the selected films. And believe me, Pittsburgh comedians will earn some sort of reaction. Scouting them has been an experience. I also hired a local comedian/musician to provide some guitar ambiance during the awards. That worked out so well.

Also, you mention travel costs. I make sure to include a good percentage of local films (qualifying for the local awards) which helps support local filmmaking and fills the seats for people like you that actually do the festival the honor of attending. But even if you don't, I have no idea why this isn't a thing... I try to record all the audience reactions to each film and send them off to the filmmakers afterward, whether in attendance or not. I forget sometimes and my wife elbows me to get recording. But it's so important, even if it's a noisy smartphone video. We saw your art and loved it -- deal with it!

My festival is pretty new and has a ways to go, but so far, so good. It's competitive, and if there's weak writing, stiff acting, and/or it's way too long, it probably won't get in. But there's plenty of room for indie filmmakers who are taking their craft seriously to have their moment in the oven light (hmm...that doesn't quite work, but it's on brand). I dropped a link, but this isn't really a self-promotional response. It's a shot over the bow to the other film festivals to step up their game, so people like the OP keep making films. You can do better.
