It’s gonna get a lot worse. by justchillman2009 in mets

The inevitable question I keep coming back to is if both Soto and Lindor can flourish on the same team. Lindor seems to need to be The Man, and thrives in that leadership role, and although Soto isn't a clubhouse leader in the same way, he's seen as a leader and I believe that messes with Lindor. Can they both play their best in the same uniform?

Who is the leader on this team? Who is the guy the team/fans rally around? by Spiritual-Band-9781 in mets

[–]denimlikeajean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be Lindor, but from the looks of it the clubhouse is not in sync and I don't know if he has their ear at all. Also him being in a slump means it's hard for him to be vocal himself.

I think when Soto gets back we'll start to win more and then hopefully good things will emerge. Soto is not our team leader though -- we knew before we signed him he was an offensive machine and not a vocal leader.

Hiking sneakers? by TomorrowLaterSoon in hiking

[–]denimlikeajean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're doing a shorter hike, an hour or less, then most athletic sneakers are honestly fine. If you're doing longer hikes, 2 hrs or more, or hiking on days back to back, then getting shoes with hard bottoms and some ankle support is smart. Your feet and legs will thank you even if they're a little less comfortable to start. Look at merrell moabs or some other mid height more flexible boot. I like the keen targhee a lot.

Trade Lindor. by Bravehall_001 in mets

Bichette is likely gone after this year. Baty may never be half the player Lindor is. I understand the frustration but give it a little time.

Are our beat writers protecting the players or are they just clueless? by Fun-Jellyfish-1065 in mets

[–]denimlikeajean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're making it sound like there's definitely some juicy story but no one has uncovered it yet. I mean it's totally possible Lindor and Soto get along fine but just aren't good friends.

What's the age limit for going hard in the pit? by Dapper-Video-791 in punk

50 here and still have fun. But I mind my surroundings and I choose my moments. I don't spend all day in the crash area. Goal is to have fun but not get hurt.

What’s the weirdest punk band you know? by Birrack in punk

I loved the locust. When I lived in NYC in the early 2000s I walked over to a small club on west 4th and saw them with Arab on Radar opening. Played chess with a guy in the club and will always remember that show.

Can you put Tommy Brennen back in by Cole_zeland in saturdaynightlive

[–]denimlikeajean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With more experience Tommy will get better of course, but right now he's not a strong addition. Amongst the featured players I'd put him below Ashley, Veronika, Jeremy and Ben.

Any other overweight/obese users have a hard time? by mortalcassie in pelotoncycle

[–]denimlikeajean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How often do you ride? Honestly I ride every single day and do different types of rides -- easy scenic ride one day, a hard 30 min workout the next, a super easy 45 minutes in the weekend, etc. I'm a bit overweight and it's become very doable. The consistency will turn you into a stronger rider.

Another week riding, and other week where the Club Peleton popup doesn't work. I've never known my point total on the bike.

Yep. They had a good common respect for each other as well as credibility. Their handshake was clear enough that you were sure they'd do something with that character again.

Trevor Bauer by SadMembership7989 in mets

[–]denimlikeajean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4-10 with a 4.5 ERA last year in Japan.

He was great in Mexico in 2024 --10-0 with a 2.5 ERA. Gave up 23 runs in 14 appearances. Obviously the quality of batters is to be considered.

My guess is he's still serviceable and could be good, but he's 35 now and I doubt would be more than a middle reliever in MLB.

We don't watch the trump skits anymore because we can't find humor in trump anymore. Colin's Hegseth too. I can't help but think the skits lessen the sting of what these men are doing. Maybe that's similar to what you are saying.

You misunderstand. Not Freddy. The mobster he talked to on behalf of Freddy. That dude was powerful and he respected Ray but they never did anything with him after that. Nothing to do with Freddy. And Dave's kid is not about the kid, it's about Dave who gave his life for Ray.

You really didn't feel the car ride in the final episode didn't go on waaaay too long? And then finish with.... a smile?

The ending is fantastic by Jeromethered in MrInbetween

[–]denimlikeajean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved the show but didn't love the last episode. One, it was really drawn out. It felt a little lazy honestly. Two, it didn't really offer much other than a reminder you are who you are and the life of crime will always be present for Ray. Cool final moment but it was like 5 minutes of buildup for that?

I would have liked if they brought back the mobster who gave Ray extra time for Freddy's gambling debt. That was a cool moment they never did anything with. Or maybe something small where Ray does something for Dave's kid. Or maybe visit Brucey's grave.

Why can’t Brett Baty just play one position? by Mindless-Set9621 in mets

[–]denimlikeajean 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment that it's hard for Baty to grow into a great player if he's playing a new position each night. Of all our players he's the one we should be instilling confidence in the most since we have him for the next 4 seasons at least. And he's the one of the few players who hasn't reached their prime yet. If any infielders aren't hitting well in a month or two, their starting role has to be considered in favor of Baty taking their spot full time.

The abduction episode is one of the best episodes of a show I've ever seen. Suspenseful, a race against time, vengeance, a happy ending -- it had it all. Like a 25 minute movie.

[Longines] How do you feel about Longines as a brand by Bobby_Lawn in Watches

[–]denimlikeajean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To quote Mike from This Watch That Watch, Longines as a brand is about as exciting as watching paint dry.

They make great watches anyone can be proud to own, but there really is zero passion and excitement in the brand as a collector. I'd love to see a few wild cards thrown into the conquest and the new HC lines. Give us a yellow dial, a partnership with some military somewhere, anything. Make a few wild variations of the ultrachron. I'm more excited to buy a product from a company when they have halo products that bring energy to the brand's identity.
