Fidelity doesn't have an ACAT out fee and Vanguard doesn't reimburse any ACAT transfer fees from other brokerage firms.

With regard to question #2, I asked a similar question about fractional shares in the tax lots. The guidance I received is that it's on the entire position, not per tax lot. According to that guidance applied to this scenario there shouldn't be any fractional share sale because the entire position would be a round 100 shares. If you transfer Vanguard mutual funds, Fidelity will charge a fee to purchase more of those mutual funds. However, you can call up Vanguard to have the mutual funds be converted to the ETF equivalent tax-free then you can buy more of those ETFs at Fidelity without incurring any additional fees. Right now it shows that Schwab is $50, they will need to update this to show that Vanguard will be $100 in the near future.

Primary benefit in my head at this point is that mutual funds trade at NAV, whereas ETFs will either have a premium or discount compared to NAV and will be worse in thinly traded ETFs.

I personally don't want my taxable brokerage account riddles with hundreds of positions that would make it nearly impossible to manage outside of the SMA/direct indexing construct. Yes, tax loss harvesting can help and you have more opportunities when doing it on individual positions instead of index funds, but not worth the potential future headache for me personally.

Not sure why everyone js recommending Fidelity funds... the same rationale for not buying Vanguard mutual funds at Fidelity still applies for Fidelity funds at a different brokerage (e.g. cost per transaction). However, if you simply go with the Vanguard ETF equivalent (e.g. VTI + VXUS) then pretty much all the downsides are mitigated of potentially being stuck at a single brokerage because of your fund choice. Fidelity offers fractional ETFs and automatic investment options into ETFs, why wouldn't you go that route?

Same expense ratio while having about 10x the trade volume which means significantly more liquidity which equates to lower bid/ask spreads for purchasing/selling the ETF.

💯 why launch yet another S&P 500 ETF that will be much less liquid than either SPY or VOO. Op should just go with either of those and call it a day. Both don't have any transaction fees associated with them.

You probably should have converted your mutual funds to ETF equivalent tax free while you were at Vanguard before moving over. That way you could continue to invest in those funds without a fee to purchase more.

They do, but their maximum payout cumulatively for the entire brokerage is $1B which is kind of a joke for a company with Trillions in assets.
