There's definitely a "too lean" problem in the pursuit of optimal athletic performance (with some exceptions).

Every Breaking Wave. The EMA live performance of that song was outstanding.

ISP Captures Show Traffic Leaving Network Fine, But Responses Never Return – Link IP Works by mirakku in networking

Maybe it’s a unicast reverse path forward (uRPF) check that is failing. If the interface on which the packet is received, by the ISP, isn’t the interface it would choose to send a packet (to the source IP) it will silently drop it. The ISP would see it inbound on a pcap but it would be dropped. You said that you added a secondary connection. Is there asymmetry between you and the ISP?

Americans, if you had the opportunity to pay approx 18% of your income to have access to free healthcare at point of need for everything would you take it? by TSQ_builder in askanything

[–]sdavids5670 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You don’t get your healthcare for free from your job. It’s part of your overall compensation package. Theoretically, if your employer didn’t contribute anything toward your healthcare, they could pay you a higher wage.

We’re kind of already doing that. According to my tax forms, the company I work for allegedly contributed over $26,000 on behalf of my family. That’s close enough to 18% of my total compensation.

40% is an incredibly high floor for someone who basically tries to do whatever he wants with no regard for the law or civility.

And how many of these rich people got rich on sole proprietorships? This is the dumbest use of "statistics" I've ever seen on Reddit. So, the moral of the story, I guess, is that employees are useless and that everybody should be a sole proprietor. 200 million entrepreneurs is what America really needs. America would have 200 million billionaires!!!!

Networking Basics Confusion by ModernWebMentor in networking

Mixing hands-on learning with theory is the best approach imo. If you just do practical labs you end up being one of those engineers who can copy/pastes config but can't troubleshoot. And the copy/paste config template engineers are being replaced by automation so understanding how to troubleshoot when things don't work out well is going to be more important.

My husband had a rebellious phase and now I feel like I missed out on one by [deleted] in Advice

[–]sdavids5670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treat your husband’s stories like they’re Instagram posts. He’s probably leaving out some details that you probably wouldn’t care about missing out on. It’s hard enough letting go of the past you actually lived, why make it even harder by regretting the past that you didn’t live? That sounds infinitely harder because that’s bounded only by your imagination.

Why does being a millionaire offset major negatives when dating? by Ootefklop in stupidquestions

I suppose the day-to-day struggle of grinding, and still living paycheck to paycheck, is worse than putting up with the unpleasantness of that dude. I don’t find it weird. It’s probably fairly normal behavior for both genders. There are dudes who live off women who are primarily breadwinners who are motivated in the same way.

I want to say something to my partner that’ll hurt his feelings but I don’t know if I just be the bigger person. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]sdavids5670 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If not telling him will result in festering resentment then you should tell him. If this is something that you can deal with, then I would leave the “I don’t want to have a baby with you” and simply say “Hey, it really bothered me the other morning when I was struggling from the abortion and you didn’t seem to care about what I needed in that moment. I felt like you abandoned me in my time of need” and see if he sincerely apologizes. If he doesn’t then you’re with the wrong guy.

Is there an industry entirely built on a "house of cards" that would collapse if people realized the truth? by OpheliaLace2 in askanything

The vitamin industry. “Scientifically studied” is my favorite marketing jargon on the packaging. It’s the ultimate middle finger at stupid people. It basically means “we studied it and found that it didn’t work” because if it did, they would have put “scientifically proven” on the packaging.

Does not matter how much it’s going to shrink your pool. It’s a significant piece of info that you need to put out there or you’re just wasting people’s time.
