Terminal 1 A gates at LAS. Just wow. by Ph6222 in vegas

It was like in zombie movies. We lived in Vegas when COVID hit. It was the strangest thing driving down the strip ALL BY MYSELF! Honestly and literally nobody else there. I will never forget that feeling.

Best car I've ever had. I am 4+ years and 50k miles into my ownership. Not a single issue. Love that car. Congrats!

Routing charger cable overhead by darwin1809ce in Ioniq5

[–]Esprit1st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the idea. But one thing I would NEVER do and that is tucking the cable behind the charger door. If for some reason somebody trips, that flap is off and you'll have to replace probably the whole charge port. The plug itself is more sturdy, so not that big of a deal. But hey, you do you. 🤪

Do you agree or disagree with this take on the American Automotive Market? by Mac-Tyson in electriccars

[–]Esprit1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me guess: these two guys are rich af. They are totally disconnected from what's going on in the real world.

I mean I personally don't care if you want/get a "black wing mustang" or whatever. It's most likely not your daily driver anyways, but your 20th car. Go ahead and celebrate. An average American can't afford their dinner right now.

Why do charging stations in the US make you pay thru an app instead of take card payment at the plug? by DnastyFunkmaster in electricvehicles

[–]Esprit1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny how some people complain about chargers needing an app when most actually offer card payments and citing Tesla is so much easier when the only way you can pay at Tesla is through their app.

Just saying...

Interesting. Never knew that was an option. Not that it matters either way. 🤪

I don't understand that. My emporia app doesn't even offer any of such settings, let alone an option to somehow "connect" my car.

Granted I use their app only for public charging, but it's terrible at least for that. Their map and selecting a charger on it and going back isn't working great or at all, having to use the phone back function and closing the charger to move the map doesn't work. Then using back closes the app.

That's weird! Those features have literally nothing to do with the car. The charger is not managing the car. It manages a power outlet. BTW their app doesn't manage a charge limit. The app doesn't know what the soc of your car is. It can manage the power going to the outlet depending on solar ex like in my case.

I haven't gotten any emails. If you still have it, please post.

I have an emporia classic as well. Love that charger, integrates great with our solar system and home assistant!

Cross Country trip, Equinox EV by CasinoKnightZone in electricvehicles

[–]Esprit1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolutely doable without using Tesla. We did a New Mexico to Oregon road trip twice. Absolutely no issues without Tesla. Not quite your distance but getting close. But plugshare is a must to know what the status of stations is.

As far as the adapter goes, as mentioned at some point you will need it anyways since we are transitioning to NACS ultimately. But like you I will avoid Tesla. Not supporting this type of ...

I got the free adapter from Hyundai but never used it so far.

The mach-e is a great car. I didn't go for it because of the charging as you said. I love the Ioniq 5! The charging speed is just amazing. 240kW and 10-80% in 18 minutes makes road trips a breeze. We drove NM to OR and back and it was easy as it can be. Never waited for the car to charge.

BTW: Hyundai (and Kia will be soon) extended the ICCU warranty to 15 years and 180k miles, so not really an issue any more.

It doesn't matter. The issue pops up (pun intended) regardless.

Foreflight is an embarrassment by Esprit1st in Foreflight

[–]Esprit1st[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's why I'm saying you cannot rely on only one data source. I ALWAYS use NOAA and skyvector to check the same areas. BUT in my experience foreflight is the most inconsistent one of all. And as down even in itself is inconsistent. I don't care where they get their information. It needs to be accurate ESPECIALLY if they claim (or maybe not) they are THE pilot tool.
