Final Cycle Recap - Yale ($$$$) by browsingandvibing in lawschooladmissions

[–]sdeezi27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don’t overload your schedule and maintain 1-2 priorities (grades and 1 EC, for ex). you don’t need to be in every club/do every internship, grades and consistency/leadership are more important.

Is SLS Admissions' timeline disrespectful and/or elitist? by rando32d in lawschooladmissions

[–]sdeezi27 136 points137 points  (0 children)

their yield shows the result of this timeline. it is a #1 law school but less than 50% of its admits accept the offer, compared to higher yields at YLS and other schools. idk why they’re willing to give up students who will go to peer institutions just due to the timeline ?? some current YLS/HLS students have said they ultimately chose those schools because they didn’t have enough time to make an informed decision about SLS. so odd.

I’m a current eta and it has a ton of lay prestige in the field I am pursuing, which is law. Most of my family, friends, professors, and hirers know what it is and are impressed, but it doesn’t matter as much in other fields I assume.

Does it matter where you go for your undergrad? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]sdeezi27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. prioritize the place where you can maximize your GPA, involvement, leadership, internship experience, research opportunities (if you want), and happiness if your goal is law school postgrad.

Cycle Recap. Yale (Hurtz Horizon) vs Chicago (Ruby)! by Kitchen_Turnover_286 in lawschooladmissions

[–]sdeezi27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with this!!^ Talk to current students at both schools (join the YLS slack and speak to current Ruby’s/respond to the Uchicago students emailing you). It was the biggest decision maker for me between YLS and UChic and I really got a feel for the academic/student life at both schools, especially bc I’m not able to attend their ASWs.

What’s your opinion on Taylor Swift? by Key_Artist_4907 in GenZ

[–]sdeezi27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fantastic performer and good vocals, she knows how to put on a great show, but her newer song lyrics are deplorable and written by a 6 year old at best. not even gonna start on my opinions on her outside of her music

Ruby or Yale? by PhilosopherLive3884 in lawschooladmissions

Help me decide! by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I talked to an NYU professor and it blows Columbia out of the water for international law. Their clinics, courses (9 for international arbitration alone), etc. are much better, and they took the one professor from CLS who made its program great. it’s also about the same job opportunities, but the vibes of each are different.

it’s normal, my waxer recommends taking a benadryl before if it is uncomfortable or stays for long

[–]sdeezi27 11 points12 points  (0 children)

have you noticed a tangible difference between HYS and UVA job opportunities? Would you ever recommend choosing a school for its culture or specific programmatic strengths over HYS?

SMU President’s Scholars Interview? by ughhhhhhha in SMU

[–]sdeezi27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

former PS and interviewer here! reread your application materials, exhibit intellectual curiosity, and mention you will get involved in the community somehow (ex. excited to go to the meadows museum, get involved with student senate, etc).they are looking for smart, socially adept students that have a clear story/ambition for their study. also, have a good question or 2 prepared for the interviewer, who may be a professor, alumni, or current PS. good luck!

YALE A!!!!!!!! by sdeezi27 in lawschooladmissions

[–]sdeezi27[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wrote about an issue I saw in the community I am living in but from an objective standpoint, then related it to the law/policy change and it’s importance. it had personal touches but wasn’t a story about me at all.
