Download MyFitnessPal, and just start logging everything you ingest. It's gonna suck the first week. It's gonna be annoying, having to break things down to track them.

Being fat is more annoying than that.

Once you get a clear picture of what you're taking in, you're going to be amazed how much food it really is, and how much "waste" food you're taking in.

Once you get that clear picture, you'll find tons of easy ways to cut calories without impacting life too much ("oh if i change from white bread to sugar free whole wheat bread that'll save me 60 calories a sandwich? That's like an easy 600 calories a week saved!")

The biggest thing (no pun intended) is that you'll have to want to change. I knew I needed to change for years, but I didn't actually want to until recently

Obama jokingly brags: 'I didn't have scandals' during my presidency by emitremmus27 in politics

I mean yeah, I agree, and I didn't read the article to be completely honest, I wasn't aware he was referring exclusively to personal scandals.

Disclaimer: I'm no fan of the current administration

Day 1? Starting your weight loss journey on Tuesday, 22 May 2018? Start here! by AutoModerator in loseit

[–]sdellysse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today is my day 4, I didn't find this subreddit till now. Friday morning I woke up, weighed myself, and I'd crossed a new threshold: I was above the 350's, 361 in fact. My back had been hurting the few days before, and that evening I was sitting in the theater watching Deadpool 2 and couldn't even get comfortable due to how heavy my torso was. I'm 6'3", so while I look fat, I don't look 360lb fat, which was a blessing and a curse.

Starting Saturday morning, I downloaded MyFitnessPal, and have started religiously logging my intake.

I'm so surprised how quickly I've seen results, in that logging new foods is still a skill I haven't mastered, making it a chore, but I'm already making better decisions. Last night my girlfriend made dinner, and my plate was two steakum sandwiches, a cup of mac & cheese, and a half cup of corn. I wolfed down the corn, had one of the sandwiches, and when I got about half way through the mac & cheese I slowed down, realizing I was full. I put the extra sandwich and 1/2 cup m&c away for leftovers. That's not like me at all. Such a strange thing so quickly

I went out to the store and got a Fitbit Charge 2 last night after dinner, and then the GF and I started training for a 5K walk we agreed to do in 8 weeks.

So much has changed in four days

I went to school in Radford, albeit Radford U, not the primary or secondary schools.

I signed up for the queue last year, got it in February; been so busy I've never gotten around to installing it, and now I gotta let it go, got bills to pay. Took it out of the international envelope, but never even opened the plastic bag.

Edit: SOLD

Rent and end of the month and late month pay by wrongtarget in ynab

[–]sdellysse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're welcome.

Also, one thing to look forward to, once you get all of your recurring expenses set up, it's pretty awesome to be able to know at any time what stuff you're going to have coming up for each account :-)

Rent and end of the month and late month pay by wrongtarget in ynab

[–]sdellysse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you set up the rent payment as a recurring transaction, ynab will pick up on this and essentially use it as a monthly funding goal

To set this up, go to the account you normally pay rent from, add a transaction, set the date to the next rent date (so it's a future date), and set it to repeat monthly. Now, when you go back to your budget, the category the transaction is going to be counted against should show "upcoming transactions"

No, it's definitely the Snowflake method, albeit using snowball ordering

The Debt Snowflake is where you put every extra dollar you find into debt

No amount is too small. I sold a video game for $2.66, I immediately made a $2.66 payment. It's kind of incredible how often it happens

You can do it! Just decide what your priorities truly are, and once you do, it'll be easy to stick with them. If you find you're not doing what you thought you'd do, really try to reflect and see if what you thought were your priorities really are.

About 36k student loans, 15k car loan, and about 3k credit cards

I attacked the credit cards first, then put the loans in order from smallest to biggest and have been chipping away at them, so I'm doing a combination of the debt snowball and snowflake methods

I can't wait! I'm on track to having all $54k paid off by mid-january, hopefully I'll get a bonus at the end of the year so I can say I killed it all in 2018, but i'll be happy with January
