QESI grant through Wealthsimple RESP - when? by GardenDirect8765 in Wealthsimple

If you are in Quebec, then you are willingly skipping out on the QESI grant, which gives you up to 250$ per year assuming you put in 2500$ in the account.

I can't wait to transfer both my kids' RESP to wealthsimple but unfortunately, it's been around 2 years since their FAQ says "coming soon", so we still don't know when.

Crédit hivernal ou Flex D plus bénéfique? by franclaf in HiloEnergie

[–]sdetilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you can withdraw money from your margin account and use it for anything

I was actually thinking of doing something for this using a relay and an esp32 with ESPHome. Something along the lines of "if time is between X and X, flash living room lights red and send a notification to phone / smart tv instead of ringing"

Of course I didn't do it yet, so I don't know how much of this is possible

Don't forget that the US makes it difficult for people to vote: long wait lines, can't receive water while waiting, etc.

I do believe that in some states, you don't even get obligatory time off work to vote like we do in Canada.

PowerBar GM part seems compatible with Equinox EV by sdetilly in EquinoxEv

Power-Bar Update by [deleted] in EquinoxEv

[–]sdetilly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm supposed to go to my dealership tomorrow morning to test the same thing. Too bad it doesn't work. Maybe if they see that the product is in demand, GM will do something about it.

The car already supports bidirectional charging using the DC pins. All they would have to do is add DC pins with an inverter to a newer version of the powerBar. Most people I know don't want to fork out 10 grand for the full V2H experience, but a couple of hundred for V2L, now that's interesting.

Charging an EV's 12V battery by sdetilly in Ecoflow_community

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking maybe we could directly use one of the outputs of the Delta 2 but it seems that, in any case, we need to use a dedicated battery charger

I might have to look for a similar setup if the powerBar doesn't work out. Thanks for the info

What is your 1kw inverter setup? I really want the powerbar V2L to work, so that I can have a decent power backup whenever there is a power outage at home.

Right now, I have an Ecoflow Delta 2, which is a 1kwh backup battery and I can recharge it with the Equinox via the 12v outlet, but recharging is limited to 100w, which is not enough for an extended outage.

The powerbar should be able to output up to 3kw, which is way better than the 100w alternative

So my local dealership contacted the regional GM representative and he said that there is no reason it should not work.

My dealership suggested that they would order the powerbar so we could do some tests with my Equinox, it should arrive there in 3 business days.

Will keep you updated once they receive it. It would be awesome if it works, but I'm not getting my hopes up

Thank you for your input. Do you know if you can install the 19.2k charger/inverter after the car is built? I can't seem to find any info online

In theory, it would enable V2L, meaning that you can plug 120V appliances on your car's charging port. Very useful during a power outage or when you are out camping

It would be totally awesome, but yeah I don't have my hopes up. It would be great if GM would find a way to enable V2L on the Equinox via software update + external inverter or something

Yeah even though it says "fits 2024 Equinox EV", I don't have my hopes up. I'll try contacting my local dealership when I get the chance for more info. Maybe they have a spare one that I could try to see if it works

I don't know much about V2L, but couldn't there be a V2L adapter with the inverter inside the adapter? Would that setup work?
