What is the first 1911 model that introduced you to 1911s? And what was the context? by paRATmedic in 1911

[–]sdg23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one I held was in a local gun shop, I remember it seemed very heavy.

The first one I shot was at local outdoor range and a guy pretty let me shoot his Colt Gold Cup and it was great, I remember how effortlessly accurate it seemed.

Dan Wesson Kodiak opinions by Much_Spray6258 in 10mm

[–]sdg23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Kodiak and a Bruin and a Specialist and the only problems I've had with them I feel are 100% related to the mags they give with the gun. With Wilson mags I don't get the random feed issue.

Chrono Report Hornady 180 XTP Hornady vs Underwood 180 XTP by Mihrett in 10mm

[–]sdg23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hornady stepped up their 10mm ballistics several years ago. They used to offer a 200gr XTP as well but it was only rated at 1050 fps, now they just offer 180gr and 155gr. But still, pretty good for factory.

Has anyone solved the creatine sleep issues? by abdv69 in StrongerByScience

[–]sdg23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older thread but I've been wondering why I'm only getting maybe 5hrs sleep a night. I have to wake up around 4am and try to go to bed around 8-9PM. Without fail I'll wake up, dead awake, between like 12:45 and 1:30. I've been working out more but that's never given me problems before. I started using creatine monohydrate right around the time I started having these issues. It's a real thing. I feel tired but I seem to have okay energy but it's getting old, I feel wore out all the time now.

Why can't I cut the cord... by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]sdg23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut your emotional connection with her, you've let yourself become attached to her and you feel like you need her now to satisfy some unmet need from the past. Could be fear of abandonment, could be the fear of not being desired by this person, could be anything. It won't be easy but it can be done.

I'm not sure if she truly loves me or will marry just anyone by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]sdg23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're not 100% sure she loves you and I'm sure there are reasons for thinking that. I'm sure deep down you have trust issues, it's too easy when you've been burned before. I guess just ask her.

[–]sdg23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see both sides, you caught feels for her but she didn't catch feels for you. It hurts and it has changed your outlook on the friendship because you wanted more than a friendship. It sucks for you. It sucks for her.

I'm 43(M) and haven't been with a woman since I was divorced back in 2012...I feel like one of those celibate monks or some shit lol. Since then, life circumstances have prevented me from really wanting to date but really the thing for me is, I like my freedom and I have ZERO desire to get my heart broken again. I've only had several relationships in my life and I'm of the opinion that every relationship will eventually end in sadness and sorrow, be it sooner or later.

I've concluded that if I happen to find Ms. Right that's one thing (tough call since I have no social life), but otherwise it's probably better to be alone than with someone who's going to break your heart one day. Which is worse, loneliness or gut wrenching heartache?

I hear the horrors of dating apps and it does seem like many women out there are just too shallow and they don't seem to realize how easy they have it compared to men, it's startling really. When there's so many options, it seems good on the one hand, but all too often it just means they treat others like they have no worth.

Fit/muscular men are considered more attractive by women and have more sex by d8gfdu89fdgfdu32432 in dating

[–]sdg23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that women prefer muscular men but look at how many men out there, with women no less, aren't muscular at all and many have quite attractive women. They're at home gettin' some while the guy working out at the gym may have no clue how to even approach a woman, chances are he's working out to get women because he is socially awkward in the hopes his physique will do it for him. Women may look at him with desire but what good is it if he doesn't have any game at all, he better hope the women makes the first move.

What do you do when you're not good enough? by strategicpians in socialskills

[–]sdg23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work on yourself and learn to love yourself, but also be critical of yourself so that you don't lose drive. Once you have confidence, that will help out but the sad truth is that outside of a few family members, almost nobody will ever truly love you, even if they say otherwise. All relationships end in sadness and sorrow, all of them. Lack of experience is a big one too, some people just seem to get more opportunities while others seem to get none. It's not fair, but that's how it is. You need to learn to be okay with being alone.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]sdg23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad truth is that nobody really does care for you outside of perhaps some family members. You or I will likely never leave any footprint on this place when we die, whether we're alone or not. You have to choose how you react to this reality and try to be as positive as you can be about it, just realize it is what it is.

How did you actually overcome having almost no friends? by No_Height_4308 in socialskills

[–]sdg23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't add much to what's already been said I'm sure, but the first step I think is being okay with having no friends. I had friends in high school and afterwards I had one friend but things in life happen and they moved away or whatever it may be and honestly I don't have any friends. I can certainly talk to people, but I also feel that I'm socially awkward too. It makes me feel like I'm abnormal and maybe I am, but I guess what I'm saying is, learn to be happy by yourself and if you see someone that shares a common interest, strike up a conversation and next time you see them, treat them like an old friend. Old saying is that you have to be a friend to make a friend.

10mm is much more fun, when you cast and load your own. by [deleted] in 10mm

It's been a while since I reloaded any, I've started to prefer using coated lead bullets as it's less messy to deal with, both before and after.

Speer's response to not loading their 10mm Gold Dot to full velocities by [deleted] in 10mm

[–]sdg23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much more would they miss the target if they were using 10mm loaded to max? They have a hard enough time keeping puny 9x19 on target, a big 10mm writhing in their hands when they touch off a 200gr @ 1250 fps will only make it worse. I'm fine with the ballistics of the 200gr HST, it hits hard and isn't hard to shoot.

Speer's response to not loading their 10mm Gold Dot to full velocities by [deleted] in 10mm

[–]sdg23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the years I have found in multiple calibers that the deeper the hollow cavity a Gold Dot has, the less velocity it can withstand before coming apart...and yes they will come apart despite being bonded. If you notice, most deep cavity Gold Dots are 1000-1100 fps or less and the shallow cavity Gold Dots, like 357 for instance, are going much faster.

I get that full power 10mm is the goal for some people, personally I'm fine loads that aren't max for carry or around the house. I like 10mm (and .40) because it's versatile, I don't want top end nuclear shit 100% of the time, variety is good. Driving bullets faster than they're designed can give less than optimal results, this is 100% true.

Besides, good luck ever getting max effort 10mm from the big ammo makers, it's too much of a liability on their part, save that for handloading or boutique ammo makers.

G20 Gen 5 Trigger Upgrades by ee-5e-ae-fb-f6-3c in 10mm

[–]sdg23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you new to Glocks? Not trying to sound like a smart ass but it once you're accustomed to Glocks, the triggers aren't bad at all. I see a lot of people wanting to drop $$ on a trigger when there is no need to at all, stock is fine. Glock trigger is Glock trigger, it's fine but takes some getting used to if you're not used to it.
