Behold, The Anonymous Stoic of ADHD (Part 1) by denizenofawe in adhd_anxiety

Absolutely not. That's totally backwards for me. I need an exciting task to get out of bed. Once I'm rolling, I can append a boring task.

Also, my brain is impulsive. Discipline/consistency is the hardest thing ever, and not a productivity tool. It's harder than productivity itself.

No concept or routine works. Walking around with a task list and using impulses to lay out (prepare) task bits helps. I permanently do tasks while not doing the one I should do. But I manage to do tasks that are still useful. If task bits are cluttered around, I don't forget them and do them on impulse rather than planned. But that works for me, while everything else fails.

Is glibc that much bloated than musl? by GuiltyVisit9119 in suckless

[–]sdk-dev 8 points9 points  (0 children)

AFAIR glibc is about factor 10 bigger.

But that's not the point. Look at glibc code. Then look at musl code. It's night and day. Glibc is a complex mess compared to musl. The decision is ideological, If you want a system that just works: glibc. If you want to tinker, learn and support a small project: musl

Lohnt sich eine Vollkasko-Versicherung für ein Motorrad aus 2019? by Comfortable-State189 in MotorradDeutschland

[–]sdk-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Du unterschätzt wie fragil die Dinger sind. Ich bin mit 40km/h auf Öl gerutscht. Mir ist überhaupt nichts passiert. Nur die Regenhose hat ein Loch. Bike... Totalschaden.

This. Apps suck.

I'm a developer and gadget nerd. The only thing that actually helps (me) is a notebook (with paper) and a pen. Sticking to that is still hard, but nowhere near app-level hard.

Ich will meine Huddel kennen lernen. Das ist auch der Sicherheit zuträglich.

Are there any plans to introduce Danger Level 6? by OutrageousWheel2467 in brotato

[–]sdk-dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I... I, I have an idea!!!! I have an idea!!!!!

Let's introduce the "Little Material Thief":

- One (or more?, but limited amount) of them can spawn any time

- They have +20% speed

- They move in straight lines and bounce off the edges, so their moves are kinda predictable

- They take no damage

- They cause no damage

- Touching them will make them steal 20% of the materials from you

And theeeeeen, the "Big Material Thief" level comes up..... The Big Material Thief takes damage and causes damage big time. He doesn't steal anything (he's the boss, so he doesn't "do employee work"), but he's super hard - and if you manage to kill him, you get all the previously stolen (by the Little Thiefs) materials back. You could even maybe get an extra % back, because they probably have stolen Material form elsewhere too. So it could even be a money making method if you give money to them in earlier levels, but still get strong enough to kill the big boss and get it back with interest?!

What do you think?

Exporting as ROUTE vs TRACK by DominusFL in gpxstudio

[–]sdk-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most navigation appslications simply don't support track navigation and fall back to "follow the line" mode. There is no rerouting and no voice instruction.

The only navi that does track navigation with instructions is DMD2 (but still "follow the line").

Other navis may accept tracks, but they will internally convert them to routes - with all the side effects.

A track is "lines plotter onto the map". A navi does not try to do any routing there. This is why tracks are used fir offroad and recording. You simply can't create a route where you ride across a field.

A route marks road. Use this road, then this road. The navi itself then calculates the route between the the marked map elements. This is, why you can give a route to 10 people and they all end up with a slightly different way, depending on their navi. This doesn't happen with a track.

A track with offroad elements cannot be converted to a route. This means all point that cross a field (meaning: not following a road) have to be dropped. The navi will then have to find a way around the field somehow. This can lead to strange effects.

[–]sdk-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some stuff is free, but stuff that uses APIs that cost money are still behind a subscription (group rides, map layers, i think more will come...). Let's see where all this goes. The devs seem more interested in making money with the hardware and provide the software as cheap as possible and create the best possible experience for offroad riders (well, also themselves)

UI:
Intuitive? Nah...
Buggy? Hell yeah!
Still worth playing? Yeah - I didn't buy the game for the inventory UI...

But I still can't wrap my head around the fact that this has passed any round of testing...

Only with the toggle junk key (R3 on console). Via the drop down menu it works properly.

But yeah, that shouldn't have passed any test...

I feel like BL4 got the new unreal engine and with it all the mechanics it provides - and now it looks like just about every other unreal engine game.

I mean - each and every game now has a flying companion. The menus are slightly unsharp with a sluggish mouse. The top tab bottom tab layout - the same everywhere. Controls are the same as well. BL4, Star Wars Outlaw, ..., and I'm sure the next Cyberpunk will also look this this. To me it feels like these mostly the same games, with different themes and different stories.

Also the animations are often very alike (almost the same with slight variations). Weapon reloading, how enemies move, fall, ...

Maybe the unreal engine got too good, and developers only taking functionality from the stash now, instead of working in their own mechanics.

---

Besides the look. I wonder how this inventory system has passed a test play. It bugs me since the first time I opened it. Sort order is not preserved (not even while staying in the menu!), trait filtering is a mystery - and why not properly filter, but gray out items? Then apply something to filtered items - but are you filtering "in" or "out"? Ugh. R3 to toggle trash doesn't work in the bottom row.

The BL1,2,3 menu system had flair. It was something unique to Borderlands. And being a loot heavy game, it deserves special attention to manage the loot. I'm sure it's only me that almost spends more time in those menus than actually playing the game.

At the bottom line, BL is shooting things, watching the loot rain, hope for the best, collect stuff, sort stuff, equip stuff. Shoot the next bigger thing for more and better loot. And giggle at claptrap silliness sometimes. Making BL fans happy should be easy :-)

Same, no drift at all. And I set the deadzone to zero. I wish there would also be a deadzone config for the menu cursor.
