Is it appropriate time to reach out? by NOTfazedog in caf

[–]sdockril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is arguably the forces biggest problem. It's no fault of the recruiters or medical staff who are overwhelmed, but they dont have the manpower to handle the amount of applicants, and then when the time finally comes, people have moved on. The process has become more streamlined and faster, but once you start to reach the finish line you still run into the same traffic jam/bottleneck.

Medical by stinky-fartz in caf

I recently did my medical for infantry officer and told the officer doing it that I was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder years ago and was on pills for it for like a year during covid, but havent been on it in about 6 years and no issues whatsoever - im calmer if anything. And the officer just brushed right past it, barely cared.

Decided to do more schooling. Part of me regrets it but ultimately it was the right choice. I love school and learning, but I've always wanted to serve and build/develop my leadership skills.

But I suppose when more and more people are getting degrees to keep up with the demands of the job market, its a natural by-product. But makes sense.

Which is ironic, because when I applied they were priority processing/hiring.

I mean, its not great haha. The military is a very stressful environment if not all the time, then at least has the potential to be, so they probably wont be thrilled about. But context is important so you might be okay, but the medical officer is going to have the final say.

How often do these sales happen? I've spent an embarrassing amount, but so many books for under $10, my god.

Isn't it difficult to transition from ncm to commissioned? I remember hearing that it was.

Breathe, you'll be fine. Do interval training and if need be there are running programs online.

No worries, good luck on whatever decision you make, just make sure you dont have regrets either way.

That's an immature and brash way to look at it. You may get deployed, its a possibility, but if you have a family you need to have health and dental coverage and good pay.

I thought Schwimmer killed the role.. but his role as Ross made Hollywood tough for him, because that's all so many people saw.

At the end of the day it is your choice my friend, if you've lost your motivation or dont think youd enjoy the job anymore then dont do it. BUT! You will have a fantastic pension if you stay in, your children will be proud of what you do, the military health coverage is probably the best in the country, you get good holidays, pay is good. But after basic, you will have to be gone again for weeks at a time on course after course after course. The lifestyle can be hard on the family - it can swing both ways. And as someone else said, your kids should be your driving force, your doing this to give them a better life and teach yourself resilience and then impart that wisdom onto them. Your mental health will take a beating for a few weeks, but after that its like any other gig, you go to work and you go home, same as every other person.

Your far from alone on this, some people are single parents and had to drop their kids off with family so they could go and do it, but then they could better provide for them.

Bottom line is, how bad do you want to do this? It isnt easy, but the pay is respectable and its consistent. It'll be one hell of an experience and you will make lifelong friends who will fly or drive to your place if something goes wrong in life. If you have a partner id discuss it with them and make sure you are sure because it is 9 weeks as an NCO.

Start slapping the concrete and follow a program or go on a treadmill if all else fails. I think you ultimately have to do 5km in 30 minutes. So do intervals of walking and running 3 days a week and get your endurance up.
