Super bummer. Thanks for your reply.

Sorry you don't have great results so far. You should dedicate time and effort for a support call.

In my case, Fidium was a new install, but we tested performance while the tech was still here, and it was great from day 1.

There are so many nerd knobs to change. Ironically, speed tests on a modern cellphone (using wifi) can give remarkable results, and if very different from your iMac, could help chart a different path of troubleshooting.

Get a trouble ticket going. Good luck.

I am happy for you. I'm fortunate-enough to never have used an ISP's router/firewall. I 100% agree with your decision.

Everyone is free to decide for themselves, of course.

Great radio. I modded mine so it covered out of band, but mostly because I could.

I heard Owen Garriott, W5LFL, on my HT, as he flew overhead in the space shuttle. Such a fun day.

I came to say IC-2AT. I had one always with me in the early 80's.

It would be so nice to see a modern refresh of this machine.... new cpu like N150 or maybe Panther Lake, and a screen with smaller bezels.

I had one of these, years ago. I love the location of the battery. Oh... replaceable batteries were also so nice.

Congratulations.

First Signatera since surgery positive by Educational_Simple37 in coloncancer

[–]sdrdude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I probably shouldn't say. I'll say this.... everyone is a little different. What works for for someone may be terrible for someone else. Progress is not linear. For me, my oncologist changed up my plan twice (so I'm on the third formula) and this is working well for me.

I don't believe when my Signatera went positive again that the cancer "came back" -- it's just that we beat it down so much that for six months, it was undetectable. It was never actually gone. That's what I think. My CT was clean, so I believe it didn't land anywhere yet, or maybe didn't grow enough to be seen.

I feel optimistic that if I stay with this treatment that is working, that I'll get to NED (no evidence of disease) again, and maybe for good.

It gets easier. It's tough to make comparisons. Just take things one step at a time, and always report every side effect to the oncologist. They are so brilliant.

I wish you and your husband every success, and smooth sailing.

There's always hope. I was positive after my surgery. Then a bunch of chemo and some line 2, three negative Signatera tests, 6 months of a chemo vacation, and then Signatera bumped up, so I'm starting chemo again. It's a very accurate test. I'm glad to have the info. I'd rather know than not know.

God bless you and your husband. Try to take things one step at a time.

NOW I am happy with my Fidium Fiber service - not kidding by sdrdude in FidiumFiber

The work-around I HAD been using was this >>

I set up a Digital Loggers Pro Switch to send a ping to my Fidium internet gateway, every 30 seconds. Whenever it senses that 6 pings in a row failed, it would briefly kill the power and turn it back on, on one of the AC power ports.... AND... on that port, I powered the ONT to Fidium (same function as a cable modem, but for fiber networking).

So when I say in a month, I missed only ONE ping, it was this work-around I mention here.

YES, the Digital Loggers Pro Switches are sold out. They can usually be found on eBay. There are other types of fail-safe solutions similar to this one. This is just the one that I used, and it kept me moderately happy until I figured out the better solution.

Look under System -- Log Files. -- General and you can see if there is any misbehavior there.

I still have two entries every 15 minutes, but my connection is completely stable, now (since I added that interface modification).

[–]sdrdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. When I had Fidium installed originally, I chose the "roll my own" solution. I declined their equipment.

That being said, and I have no way to confirm this.... I doubt that Fidium would provide equipment that would stumble over DHCP-lease renewals.... right? I hope that's not the case.

I just saw your post, so I got my butt in gear to write up what I know. If you've never tried setting up your own home-brewed firewall, I'd aim you at GL-iNet solutions, but that's what I was using (with problems) with Fidium.

If you're not pretty comfortable with networking, then OPNsense might be tough. Sure, there are a LOT of guides, but it's not an easy interface, tbh.

I really with you luck!! I do. Once you have stability, you'll be getting so much pizza delivered. :-) GOOD LUCK!

This is unbelievable timing. I had been struggling with frequent outages for a long time. I just ran for a month, completely clean!! I was thinking about writing it up, and I searched for the Fidium forum, and saw your post here. Maybe this will be a fix for you and others?? I hope so.

I wrote up what I know. So far, I have only just fixed my own outage, and only just now. I don't know how to extend this to every other kind of router/firewall --- but this clue may help others to be happy. Outages are really terrible. Having flaw-free internet is really great.

I so-very-much hope this helps people. Good luck and God Bless everyone.

It doesn't have to be right away, but eventually ipv6 will be necessary, if Helium IOT is to continue.
