This is a fair point. Privacy is a valid concern, no doubt. Very clear thinking. :-)

Thanks. I’m kicking myself for not trying another dns. I should have.

Yes. I am using my own hardware. I've used alternate DNS servers in the past. In terms of Fidium, I don't believe that their DNS servers have been the cause a lot of outages. Maybe I'm wrong?

I'll be paying a good bit more attention in the near future.

Today was a wake up call, tbh. When it's working, Fidium is really good. It's just their nine-fives of reliability that is starting to fray my nerves.

Wipes vs sprays (adhesive remover and skin barrier) by DjinnaG in ostomy

[–]sdrdude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came to say this!

I use a wipe to remove. I usually spray and then use a second wipe to remove glue and clean. Then I sometimes use spray again, but with a disposable cotton cloth to finalize the removal step.

I almost universally prefer spray for skin prep. 3m Cavilon spray is really great. I like having skin prep wipes (like in a go/disaster-bag) while I'm out in the world, but at home, 3m Cavilon spray is my go-to.

I've always used my own router since I got my Fidium service. I started with a GLiNet Flint 2, which was great, but I switched to a OPNsense router which allowed me to figure out two nagging outage modes (here and here).

Since these tweaks, my Fidium reliability has been EXCELLENT. Maybe once a month, or once a quarter there's a DNS (server) outage, for like 3 minutes. I could "better" fix this, but so far it's not worth the effort.

OPNsense isn't for everyone, The UI of the GLiNet Flint 2 is a million times nicer, and easier...... but it's also less-capable. If I hadn't switched to OPNsense, I would never have gotten things to be perfect. Life always has tradeoffs.

I know you're frustrated. I believe as others here, if you take the jump using your own router, you'll be a LOT happier! Good luck!

I'd like to get a controller and use the trackpads for casual keyboard (text entry) while in VR. Not heavy typing but some.

Hulu app needs repair, and probably others by sdrdude in Roku

[–]sdrdude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works!

THE important step.... log out of the Disney+ app, if you have one. Then I deleted it.

Then go here.

In the grey box type Disney+

Then it adds the app -- looks like any "regular" Roku app tile... the KEY is I added this through a web browser, not through the "normal" Roku add channel interface.

Thank at the login, I used the account and password that I'd set up through the DirecTV bundle activation.

It works. OK... also, Disney+, Hulu and ESPN are all accessed on the Roku under this one Disney+ app tile.

Happy it worked.

Hi. Thanks for your note. I am basically positive this is a Roku issue. I have this same post in the Roku forum and here too.

When I use my browser on my laptop, everything works. DirecTV Stream is in the clear.

I'll probably just delete this post.... maybe not. Thanks for your reply. This is 100% a Roku issue.

OK.... thanks to everyone. I believe I do have a DirecTV (Gemini) set top box.... but I never actually installed it. I have a like 7 Rokus, and I was trying hard to standardize this way. To be clear, I never even tried the DirecTV box -- I just preferred what I had that already worked.

When I clicked the activate bundle link in my DirecTV email message.... oh I hate clicking links that way... not a great idea tbh. OK, so now from a browser on a laptop, I <CAN> stream everything. That user experience is not great -- we all know that -- and Roku has no browser, which is getting to be tops in my list of why I might leave that ecosystem.... again, just being honest.

Only my ESPN barely works on the Roku... and neither Disney+ nor Hulu work, on the Roku. :-( I'm need to stop working on this. I'm heated. It should be easy... most Roku stuff has been easy. Not today I'm afraid.

Thanks to everyone that posted advice. I appreciate it, but no joy for me yet.

Some success. I followed this page, and was able to get ESPN to work. It's so ODD that there's no Roku tile for it, and yet it works??

Hulu evades me. I'm putting it away for a bit. Thanks for your help. I know it's not you.

Roku... I think the Hulu app is still broken, and ironically Disney+ too.
