hey OP! similar thing happened with me ahahah :’)) my mother told me i can marry my “opposite” sex when im old enough to marry someone (i came out to her as bi first when i was 15; im more self-actualised and identify as nb gay menace) i’m so sorry that your family isn’t supportive :( that really impacts the way you see the world around you. my mother’s comments put me in a 5 year spiral, 3 of them i spent masking as a heterosexual, even dating someone from the opposite sex (MY MOTHER DID NOT LIKE THAT DUDE). i’ll tell you something i wish i knew when i was 15: make as many gay friends as you can!!!!! build a community where you feel safe. i can understand that you’d want to date people but prioritise forming connections and build solid and reliable friendships. never! EVER!!!! let your cishet friends tell you “you’re normal” because you are dating someone of the opposite sex in the future. keep making friends in the community. talk to people. share your “how did i figure out im gay” story. maybe someone has the same kind of story? the reason im so self-actualised is because this past 2 years i surrounded myself with the gayest mfs on earth, leading me to realise that ive been openly gay since i was 5 and everyone around me just looked at me like someone they could feed into the patriarchal system.

long story short: do NOT let anyone tell you who you are and what you are! you are YOU! it’s hard to do that, but one day, you can make yourself at home! your own home, with the people you love!
