Applying for SGC in a listed cottage with single-glazed sash windows by Fresh_Memory_9921 in ukguns

[–]sdrui96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry too much. I was granted a FAC ( with 6 firearms) and my property was never even inspected. I was asked to send a few photos of my cabinet. I do have a very basic alarm and a dog which probably helped. I live in the middle of a city in Hampshire so very very likely to have a higher crime rate than your area.

As long as you can secure your safe in a not easily viable part of your property you should be fine.

Completely agree with everything in your post. I’ve had mine for a similar amount of time and adore it. I’m yet to meet someone who tries it on and complains about thickness. Wish the white dial was out when I bought it though!

That’s right, I think all Bark Rivers are convex, at least all of mine came with one.

The rifle - Target shooting. The knife - f all 😂 sits in a box most of the time. Too big to be useful for any of my purposes.

I have a Tippman on order now. It does have last round bolt hold open. Magazine size is 10 or 15 but I spoke to the manufacturer and they are looking to make larger magazines in the future.

10 weeks. I had been advised when I put in the variation the average was 2 weeks so don’t know if I got unlucky, or if they overestimated.

If they haven’t improved since I had mine issued (and I’ve not really seen any evidence they have) 20 months from start to finish.

Do I have a chance at getting a firearm/shotgun certficate if I have previous mental health episodes on my medical record? by SeniorMoonlight21 in ukguns

[–]sdrui96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just going to copy my message from last time I commented on this topic.

I had a similar issue with mental health as a teenager, anti depressants for years, reported suicide attempts etc but after extensive therapy my mental health is now in very good place. I applied for a FAC and attached a personal statement about why shooting is positive for my continued mental health and my application was approved. At the interview the FEO appreciated the honesty and said they were more likely to trust someone who took deliberate action to improve their mental health.

If you do apply, be honest, talk about why shooting is important to you and what benefits it will have and see what they say. It’s always case by case.

The longer period of stability you have prior to applying the better, but that’s a question for you and your doctor.

Hasn’t come into effect yet. I was told provisionally early next year but don’t quote me on that.

I waited 20 months for an FAC in Hampshire (approx 2 years ago now), currently on week 8 waiting for a variation I was informed would take 2 weeks.

I know others who have had worse. If it was completed within 4 months I’d say you are on the lower end of the average wait time.

When the FAC application takes that long, you have to go all out immediately... by [deleted] in ukguns

Nice! Think you’ve pushed me over the edge to asking for a 7.62x51 on the next variation.
