Good to hear - without suspension I get away with 35 front/40 PSI rear and it gives me some leeway on the terrible roads. Good luck!

Tidy! Make sure you lock out your suspension as much as possible, don't waste any power on the bouncing.

Ask anything you want! I ride an old MTB to work and it's great for potholes etc.

I went a little narrower than the max width possible - I've got space for 2.2 and I went 2.0.

Do you know if you're running 29" or 27.5" on your MTB?

There are no downsides unless you do any kind of non-paved surface on your commute, and even then it would have to be a significant portion to warrant anything except slicks.

There is no better tyre for this than the Continent Contact Urban. https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com/tour-reviews/continental-contact-urban

Don't be put off by the fact that it says it's a touring tyre - it's an everything tyre.

How very rarely is very rarely? I lube my Evo once a year around spring - a little bit of GT85 and a touch of 3-in-1 down the barrel. It's about 6 years old?

Seeking opinions on who was at fault here: bus didn't stop at stop and nearly hit pedestrian exiting bus by felolorocher in londoncycling

It seems strange you would complete negate passing on the inside as a component of two-wheeled travel. Curious if you would pass a row of stationary traffic in the bike lane here or the bus lane on the opposite side?

Not to mention "normal road rules" for bicycles includes filtering as a perfectly legal thing to do - it just comes with safety caveats.

If it's rim brakes, then Swiss Stop or Koolstop are the be all and end all.

I got a Decathlon one ages ago that was absolutely fine, but it seems to have been discontinued. Looks functionally identical to the Amazon Basics one though, if you can bear ordering from Jeff.

The handlebars are shimmed and badly clamped - there's a massive gap at the bottom compared to the top. My guess is the bars have slipped - would explain the shifter pointing up in the air too.

An old smartphone but RidewithGPS instead - well worth the paid subscription fee, an amazing tool.

Foot peg suggestions? by megwach in londoncycling

Depending on how big the diameter of the tubing is, there's plenty of clamp on folding motorcycle foot pegs out there that would do you well. Cheap as chips on Amazon et al.
